You couldn't make it up.
It was reported that Immingham and Grimsby, two overwhelmingly Brexit areas have requested that their fish prossessing industries be exempt from Brexit as the expected tariffs will decimate the industry.

Add the recent news from Javid, re manufacturing not getting any 'frictionless trade, which will devastate manufacturing and in particular places like Sunderland and South Wales - where they voted for Brexit... It could be the Xmas turkeys coming home to roost before the slaughter
Re: You couldn't make it up.
If I understand correctly, this Javid man wants to tell the bigger industries to go to hell, while he supports the wee man, putting it bluntly.
Re: You couldn't make it up.
Javid is a banker (proper spelling) and his interests will be London and the finance and service industries, like Boris. He cares nought for the outlying regions.
Re: You couldn't make it up.
That's just a ridiculous headline. They were complaining that UK will no longer be represented BUT the EU will still control the waters.

Re: You couldn't make it up.
The MEP made a very valid point. The irony is a Remainer questioning the intellect of Brexit voters whilst completely missing the point. Now that is something you couldn't make up! As to David Lammy, well, anyone who uses him to bolster their argument really is scraping the barrel.

Ah yes, the old 'all Brexit voters are stupid' trotted out again.
A shame he can't share the assumed high intellect of remain voters, because of course, he didn't vote.

Hudswell didn't persist in insulting Brexit voters.
I too have views, but I do not keep on, ad infinitum, that you are stupid for having views which differ from mine. It's just a pity that you cannot have more respect for other posters.

Re: You couldn't make it up.
I see Boris is asking the EU to waiver tarriffs for car manufacturers in the upcoming trade negotiations and Patrick Minford the Brexit economist guru confirmed the auto industry will be all but destroyed after Brexit.

Hudswell was a Brexit supporter so little chance of insulting his fellow supporters though he was warned and suspended on several occasions for insulting Remainers.
I don't think you are stupid but I do believe many leavers were fooled but unfortunately it's very difficult for people to hold their hands up and admit it.
Hundreds of thousands of jobs have already been lost and workers rights are being curtailed and we haven't even left yet.

What hundreds and thousands of jobs?
The unemployment rate is the lowest it's been in nearly 50 years.

If you read this, Dominic, you will find argument that the unemployment rate is a sham - it is much more.

I’ll add this video in here - from a Channel 4 show on Brits abroad - shows incredible ignorance on their futures

That links a little out of date now, people on zero hours contracts are nearer to 1 million, in case anyone didnt know on zeros hours contracts if you get one days work in 14 days you are not classed as unemployed.Jimgward wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 11:06 amhttps://www.businessinsider.com/unemplo ... ?r=US&IR=TDominic wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 10:01 pm What hundreds and thousands of jobs?

Re: You couldn't make it up.
That article doesn't make sense. It states the actual rate is more like 21.5%, yet according to the graph, that figure is made up of:Jimgward wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 11:06 amhttps://www.businessinsider.com/unemplo ... ?r=US&IR=TDominic wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 10:01 pm What hundreds and thousands of jobs?

4.5% unemployed
6% inactive people who would like a job
3.5% part time workers who want full time work.
That's only 14%. So where was the other 7.5%? And what are inactive people who would like a job? Why aren't they registered as "unemployed"?

Re: You couldn't make it up.
I've read several articles that Brexit is attributal to in excess of 400,000 job losses. I don't just write fanciful comments. The government are massaging the figures, they put the unemployed on 0 hour contracts or make them sign off as sick which lowers the unemployment figures.
Re: You couldn't make it up.
HiC - it's amazing, though, how few "Brits" in Spain can even order a coffee after 10 years.
People living in Spain and voting for Brexit - that does my head in....
Why, would ANYONE, living in the EU, want the UK OUT of the EU?
