The asylum seekers in the UK cannot provide proof of their income, they have none so we are led to believe.
How can asylum seekers have an income when the UK government prohibits them from working.

Re: £350 million NHS Funding "Promise" by Leave Campaign

I think you are all missing the really serious point here. The issue is not where the money is coming from, but where it is going. Before you all crow about money for the NHS being a good thing wherever it is coming from, please think on. Is it going to extra pay for nurses? More Doctors? Better equ...

Re: Asylum Seekers

I have some facts (from the UK government). In 2017, there were 14,767 grants of asylum, alternative forms of protection and resettlement, compared with 15,156 in the previous year. This comprised: 7,469 grants of asylum to main applicants and dependants (down 11%) 1,086 grants of alternative form o...

Re: Wooden Boards or Plates?

If the food is good, then a lump of wood isn't necessary. Give me a plate every time.

I also want a glass with my beer bottle, without having to ask the pimply youth behind the bar.

Some facts would be helpful Itisfun. Such as: To build on Dominic's point. The 8.7 would include asylum seekers (to use your term) from Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia etc. Can you point us at the study you mention so we can see the breakdown please? You seem to state that "our own elderly sick...

Re: Tax Return Errors - Any Suggestion / Solutions

It says in the instructions, towards the back of the form, that income must be stated to the nearest euro. I.e. whole euros and no cents. I strongly suggest people read these before completing the form. If you only have pension income than only fill in the pension section. Parts that are not relevan...

Re: Hundreds turn out for Pride march

The parade is great news. I always attended the Brighton Pride parade and it was great fun. Families turned out with their kids to watch and join in many of the events. Later in the evening there were marquees where there was entertainment and a "clubbing" atmosphere. Perhaps one day we wi...

I don't know where, but be aware that before you scrap, the road tax needs to be brought up to date.

Re: Do you drink Keo

I was always told the rule of thumb was Carlsberg for Cypriots and Keo for tourists. Personally I really don't like Keo as it's too gassy. Carlsberg is OK, but the local one for me is Leon in bottles. I also like the various Bulgarian beers you can get here. Pop into the nearest Bulgarian shop and y...

I don't watch live UK TV channels. For example I watched Eurovision on CYBC, watch Graham Norton , also on CYBC. If I want to watch something good that has been shown in the UK, then I have a Raspberry Pi with Kodi. Cut out the middle man.

As my son says, live TV is so yesterday.

Our new High Commissioner seems silent on the issue. Their work regarding Brexit includes "Information on the rights and status of UK nationals living and travelling in the European Union" according to their website. We could do with less in the way of Hugh Grant films (yes, really) and mo...

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2018

I watched it all and loved it. It was good that the result wasn't obvious until the end, as sometimes you know half way through the voting. What interested me was the fact that the juries of experts (whatever that means) voted a certain way, and then the public vote changed everything considerably. ...
