Re: Berengaria Hotel in Prodromos sold to Cypriot investor
About time. Its a fabulous location and above the clouds on some days. I remember visiting a house in the village some years ago and looking down on the hotel thinking "if only I had the money". Ah well.

Re: Paphos Smart Parking
I downloaded the app, and it opens OK. Currently I use it just to identify where there are spaces. It's not difficult to learn the Greek name for a particular car park or road. If you are determined to park in a space without a number. You will find a carpark full of them in the one behind the mosqu...

Re: Paphos Sea-Front Gym
I think the new gym equipment is a great idea. What's the betting that the moaners hadn't been down for a look before submitting their moans. There are similar setups in a small park in Lemba and on Chloraka seafront, which are well used.

Its a nice place and we have eaten there. It had a "Muse" feel to it if you get what I mean. The food is good but not cheap, but not that expensive either. The music is modern and can be a little too loud if you are indoors. Good staff and a great view.

Re: Getting harder to retire here
The bill has been passed to parliament, where it will be discussed and will be subject to further amendments from the opposition parties. Therefore it is not possible to predict the final outcome that will be passed into law. It would seem the government want to attract retirees etc who have a great...

Re: Roe Vs Wade
The USA is a very backward country in many respects, and is populated in the main by ignorant and uneducated people. Given that, it should be no surprise they are passing laws that the Taliban would approve of.

Re: Scottish independence
As a Cornishman I can understand the Scots wanting independence from perfidious Albion.
Many of the above comments seem surprising. Surely all they want is their sovereignty back, control of their borders, and the right to make their own laws. Sounds somewhat familiar.

If you are looking for a 3 bed bungalow or house then I would say your budget is around 100k short, unless you go a long way into the hills and away from essential facilities. For your budget I would think a well appointed apartment or possibly a townhouse (terraced). Not easy to find 3 bed townhous...

Social insurance on small income.
Does anyone know anything about this subject. I am looking for facts rather then opinions. As I understand it, social insurance is paid on ALL income, and there are no exceptions other than for people over 65. For self employed people there is a lower income level, so that the least you can pay is t...

Re: Old Town 2022 Update - Part 1
I love walking around the old town. Always something new to see, and so much better than the touristy sea front. I understand that there will be a new market roof put in place as part of the upgrade. Also, the fruit and veg market is now in its own building in the car park next to the new lift. The ...

Well at least I have some clarity now on foreigners. Them being black or Asian makes them a lot easier to spot, although it could make things a bit difficult for Priti Patel. But hang on, I live in Cyprus and am a foreigner here. Just checked in the mirror. I guess I'm looking a bit pale. I'll pop i...

There are some nice craft beers here in Cyprus as well. Not as cheap as Keo etc, but much cheaper than in the UK by the sounds of it.

Impressive delivery time from Amazon.
Yesterday afternoon I ordered something from Amazon.de. There was only one delivery option, which appeared to be similar to prime and around 8 euros more then standard delivery on similar items. The item arrived at my door here in Cyprus this afternoon via a UPS van. A fraction under 24 hours from t...

Re: Abandoned cars
Residents that I know on a complex in Paphos had two cars in their car park with no wheels and were obviously abandoned. They got together and one night towed them out on the road. The next day they complained to the municipality and they came and removed them. Obviously I don't condone such action,...

Revolut would count as a UK bank account, having a sort code and account number, if that is at all helpful.
