Re: pool building company

I remember I was told the strength is important in the sides but the water pressure hold the bottom down, mine must be thin as they told me mine must always have water in. Gary. From what I understood, the main reason why a thick, reinforced base was necessary is the risk of earthquakes. Hence my q...

Re: pool building company

Meanwhile I have two offers for a pool. One of the differences is the thickness of the concrete base. One company is offering a 30 cm thick base while the other says 12 cm will be enough (they are using a different technology though, so there are other differences as well). How thick is your base? H...

Re: Forget gas.. Energy storage is the answer

Yesterday I spoke to Greenair and was told that for the foreseeable future the EAC will not be able to switch off your PV-device because they don't have the necessarry technical infrastructure yet.

pool building company

Can someone recommend a company to build a pool in the Paphos area. I'm already in contact with Greenair, but would like to have a few more quotes for comparison.

That´s good and well. However, it would be better if they offered pedelecs. Who would want to ride a regular bike in the heat of the summer?

Would it be possible to use water from desalination facilities to avoid water restrictions? Is there sort of a pipeline network in place?

There is a cellpone app which shows fuel prices in Cyprus: "fuelCY". It even offers navigation to the petrol station of your choice.

Re: Further 66 traffic cameras due to come online

It surprises me if people are still speeding after seeing the camera sign.. The van and the signs are having the desired effect. They are making people slow down . At least many motorbikers don´t seem to be impressed. After all, the cameras won´t catch their number plates, which are at the back end...

Re: Forget gas.. Energy storage is the answer

Here in Cyprus to install battery banks privately together with a PV system on the roof is much too expensive and a medium size battery bank and the different components costs the same like p.e. a 4 kWp system installed. Maybe in the near future these high prices will come down a lot. Not sure abou...

Re: Forget gas.. Energy storage is the answer

Am I right if I assume that PV- systems will only be stopped from feeding into the EAC grid, but not from being used e.g. for heating your pool or charging your battery?

What are the respectively requirements in comparable countries like ( e. g. Greece, Spain, Malta)? Why not simply copy these instead of trying to reinvent the wheel?

Re: My cars headlights.

I had mine refurbished at Nico´s car clinic in Pyla. He didn´t do it himself but sent them somwhere (don´t know where). Cost was € 60 or 70 (can´t remember exactly) and they´re looking like new. I know it´s probably too far for your liking, but you may want to give him a call at 24106277 to find out...

Re: Freedom 24 Banking & Savings

Freedom 24 is a broker who made news when they managed to help investors to sell Russian shares after the war in Ukraine had started (currently not possible anymore, as far as I know). IIRC they charge € 15 for each withdrawal. Therefore, I wouldn´t want it as an every-day account.

Would a railway system be economically viable in a small country like Cyprus? I have my doubts there would be sufficient demand to operate it at reasonable cost.

Hello everyone. Any recommendations for reasonable priced, health insurance for immigration Thank you 😊 My daughter´s insurance from Universal costs only about € 440/year, but covers mostly hospital stays. Outpatient cover is only € 100/year (which is ok as she´s covered for that via GESY). Im gues...

It probably depends on whether you´re an EU citizen. If you are you can choose whether the inheritance law of your home country or Cypriot law will apply. The difference can be enormous.

I had my phone bought via ebay and simply asked a guy in a computer repair shop to make my new phone behave like my old one. Of course, there was a small fee (10 or 20 Euros, can´t remember) but I never had a problem since.

Not yet, application for building permit received though.
Should have read: "building permit received", of course. Earthwork has started.
