Re: Phillopos

This may have changed but last Wednesday in Paps in Geriskipou the majority of non-essential items were roped off but lampshades, electric kettles and irons weren't.

Re: Danger of coronavirus - 11500

I've just read how New Zealand have been reacting to and dealing with the threat of the spread of coronavirus. IMHO it seems a very sensible approach and similar to the way that Cyprus is currently handling matters. NZ will be re-opening schools and businesses from next Monday and have adopted four ...

Re: So quite outside

Have to say that our village is lovely and quiet, just the sound of the tractors, and farm workers, and the occasional walker. With this beautiful weather there's no place I'd rather be.

Re: Wearing face masks

We do the same WHL and will probably continue to do it for the foreseeable future until a vaccine is available. Even before this happened flights were always a risk for vulnerable people with the amount of people flying whilst suffering from colds, flu, etc. Two of our neighbours (separate household...

Re: CYPRUS RAILWAY

Thanks for posting, Devil. It reminds me of when we first came to live in Cyprus 16 years ago and a friend from work wanted to come and visit. I said I wasn't too sure of the route from Lanarca (where she was landing) to Paphos. She replied that it was no problem, that she would get a train to Papho...

Re: Lidl this week

HIC - we phoned Brian at Computer SOS late last week to enquire about a ink cartridge for the printer we bought from them. He was very sorry but the shop is closed and he agreed with us that we would be best ordering from Amazon, which we duly did and it arrived by courier a week later.

Re: Lidl this week

Already tackled the garden. It looks like I may have to start on one of the 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles and, for me, that's really scraping the barrel! I agree, Trev, not good when your appliances blow up. At least we can still have our once a day exercise, and the weather is absolutely glorious, so i...

Re: Lidl this week

Ah, shame, that was my only bit of excitement when going shopping once in a while, to check out the non-food items while my OH shopped so we could buy items keep ourselves occupied with jobs at home. However, I can see the reasoning behind it. According to my sister-in-law her local B & Q in the...

Re: Wearing face masks

We use face masks and gloves just before we go into the supermarket, use the sanitiser provided and then bin our gloves in the bins provided as soon as we come out. With regard to the face masks, can't really comment knowledgeably, but we do know they make other people feel more comfortable when the...

We have just watched what we consider to be a very good film, called Dark Waters. IMDb will give the story line.

Re: Our welcome house guest

We had one of the bright green ones our frangipani plant on the front patio. It lived there for about 6 months, then just before the cold weather came it started to look a bit scruffy and brown. Several days later we found a skin sac and thought it may have shedded it's skin. We saw it again a coupl...

Re: Face masks

We bought ours on Ebay quite some time ago but only bought a few because at that time they were thought not to be particularly effective. We wear them + gloves when we go into supermarkets because, apart from anything else, I think it makes other people feel more comfortable IMHO.

Wasn't it yesterday that the Cyprus Mail published an article by an 'expert' who said that Cyprus could be reaching its peak. Maybe this prompted some folks to assume that it was OK to go out now. Daft!

Re: Will this work.

The humidity levels have now risen, the coughs have gone and we feel much more comfortable. Neither of us suffer from chest ailments. However, we're not ...

Re: DHL

I wanted to renew my passport using DHL but have decided to put it on hold as we're not going anywhere soon, and I'd rather have an out of date passport than none at all, if it got lost in transit either to or from the UK.
