Re: Ikea

I spoke with someone at IKEA last week in detail. He said there were new containers on the way - one this coming week and several in June and that the stock problems were due to several factors including the port strikes in Piraeus where most of the Chinese manufactured IKEA stock passes through and...

Re: Bank account - without residence permit

Give your lawyer a ring. Most local lawyers will know the local banks so may have a manager they could give a call to for help with opening an account.

Re: Paphos Airport

There’s a lady on Facebook sending a letter to Hermes about this. No idea why it’s happening - the problem started a few weeks ago. Maybe they have accepted too many uncovered parking bookings. Many people are having to park in Bonamare car park and walk. I have never experienced this at an airport ...

Most doctors are both private and GESY so you can see them under either option.just make an appointment with or call in at any listed doctor.

Re: Burglaries in Paphos.

My guess is it has nothing to do with nationality or race, but with how you were brought up and your socioeconomic situation. The average millionaire will be less likely to burgle your place than the average homeless person for whom a few hundred €€ will make a real difference. Just as the average ...

Re: Covid - "Re-infections are very common": They get sick again in just two weeks

It’s all about distancing. If I go to Debenhams or any other clothes shop, I am likely to stand in the same place for a good while browsing so am more likely to be close to someone for a longer period of time. If I go to Alfa Mega, I don’t tend to browse over which product I might buy. It’s in the t...

I’ll be there giving out the medals. Not looking forward to the cold though. Better to be running to keep warm!

Yes, head up towards Lidl and it comes back out onto Ellados where the new roundabout will be.

Re: Geroskipou Bypass Is Open - film!

Just sat and watched chaos following the Pafos football match. The car queue is outside the entrance into McDonalds and right across the traffic lights causing a log jam both ways down the main road. Crazy that this was not a dual road.

Re: Geroskipou Bypass Is Open - film!

Not sure it’s much of a bypass as it comes out in the centre square or just up from there and probably takes the same amount of time, if not quicker, to go the traditional route. However it was always really about access to and from the industrial area which will take lorries and bigger vehicles off...

Re: The twenty new Municipalities in Cyprus

Having telephoned and sent several emails to Peyia Municipaliy for a simple query since December and being completely ignored with no acknowledgement whatsoever, it fills me with horror at the thought of giving power over a wider area to that administration. A change of staff would go a long way to ...

Re: Cypriot voting cards.

The UK and Cyprus could agree to reciprocal voting rights as has already been agreed with some other EU member states including Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg and Poland. Perhaps pressure on both governments could result in restoration of these rights. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/local-v...

Re: Lidl and Superhome Centre to open in old Orphanides Mall ??

Loads of underground parking already exists. The Orphanides was pretty big and the other side had 4 or 5 shops so a bit of reconfiguring might do it.

Something is wrong when people are being rented properties in a building with a prohibition of use order and with no water supply. I have evidence of this and it’s appalling.

Yes rapid test is fine but it must show full name and passport/ID number. Tell them it’s for flying and they will give you the appropriate certificate.

Thanks also Lloyd - this sounds right up my street. 24 hours in Police custody is a fantastic series but there is never enough of them! I also loved Surgeons: At the Edge of Life.

Thanks Gerry G - I’ll also check out your recommendations.
