Your wife is right! We have not been able to find smoked haddock either. Used smoked mackerel instead but it is not the same.

Building insurance experiences

Has anyone had experience with the local companies for *building* insurance? Ever made a claim? How was their response?

We are looking at Atlantic (insurance company offering their own policies) and Abbeygate (broker offering policies from Lloyds).

Thank you!

Re: Induction Hob Part 2

Our induction hob has touch controls. No magnetic discs.

Aware of the power cut issues, we decided to buy a 1-ring portable gas hob just in case. In 3 years we have used it a couple of times. We were glad to have it, but are still happy we went with an induction hob with its many advantages.

Re: Induction Hob Part 2

Our Siemens induction hob lets you choose on both the left-hand and right-hand sides: using the full surface back to front as one zone, or controlling each zone separately. Induction is much easier to clean than gas. You can heat food with greater precision. No gas tank to worry about. We would not ...

Re: Vulnerable and elderly drivers constantly targeted in Paphos.

This happened to us a few days ago in the car park of Sklavenitis, opposite the Hellenic. The guy pointed at one of our tires, implying a problem, to get our attention, then tried to sell us new wipers. Aggressive and persistent. We had to shout to make him go away.

At Superhome Centre, they also give credit vouchers as refunds. But we did get change back when we purchased something with a slightly lower price.

Re: Government ally calls out EAC for cheating on subsidised bills

I wish that this state run company which still has a monopoly in all aspects of power and its generation would modernise its outdated and inefficient systems. As they effectively pass on every conceivable cost on to customers, it should stick in its customers throats if it has been failing to pass ...

Re: Recommendation for a humidifier

Have I been misunderstanding something? I always thought that increasing humidity level makes you feel hotter. Hence the night ‘feels like’ or heat index temps on weather forecasts. I definitely did last aturday night when down at at sea level in Paphos and the difference in how we felt compared to...

Our title deed has no reference whatsoever to ownership of boundaries. We assumed they are jointly owned. We are not on a communal estate.

I have been to Dr Yiannis Neophytou and to the mother/daughter team as well. Perhaps it was just bad timing but their waiting rooms were packed and frantic and I felt I was on an assembly line. Prefer Loizides. Very skilled, knowledgeable and calm. Downside is he spends some of his time practicing i...

Try Hermes on 96 080 861. He is Greek and spent many years working in Denmark. Good English. Has done a lot of work for people in Kamares and has an excellent reputation.

Re: Rain is on the way, along with drop in temperature

Our vet, Yiaanis, in Polis supplied it. It is called “Adaptil Calm Collare”, and the writing on the box is -I think - Italian. Thank you. I had read about that collar but couldn’t find it anywhere. I don’t know whether you are anywhere near Polis, but I can send you directions to our vet. I think I...

Re: Rain is on the way, along with drop in temperature

Our dog Daisy hates thunder, twin cabs, shotguns etc. we tried various medications which had some effect eventually. Last month our vet recommended a “calm collar” and so far, so good. It needs to be changed monthly. Where did you buy the calm collar? Our dog has same problem. Our vet, Yiaanis, in ...

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy a variety of house plants? Most garden centres seem to focus on outdoor plants. Thank you.
