Re: Home deliveries

We use https://www.eshopwedrop.com.cy/en for delivery of purchases from places such as Amazon U.K. and Amazon de. You can nominate a collection point or request delivery to a home address for a small extra fee - we’ve always collected from Kronos Express in Paphos, down the road from Wellgoods and t...

Swallows and hoopoes seen in our side of Polemi. Not seen or heard a bee eater yet. My favourite is the bee eater, stunning looking birds.

Lloyd, according to our accountant a lot of the bigger dealers were bringing in cars for a couple of years and storing them to buy themselves a bit more time.

Re: EU's drug regulator backs AstraZeneca vaccine after safety investigation

The EMA have found a combined total of 224 cases of CVST and SVT out of approx 34million doses, so that’s 0.000006%, or looking at it the other way 99.999994% of people did not suffer these side effects. If someone offered me a lottery ticket with a guarantee of that level of winning the jackpot, I ...

Re: Tourists will not need to send SMSs

If the “sources” are correct, which is yet to be proven, this is bonkers and also implies SMS restrictions are here to stay. I genuinely can’t see the point, why does a tourist not have to specify if they are going for shopping, a takeaway, a meal, for exercise...... if the data at that level of gra...

To be clear, it is not closed down, so I imagine was just closed when you drove by. My friend had a blood test there first thing this morning and I’ve just driven by on my way home from Paphos.

Trev, I can guess which pharmacy you mean as we have the same issue. It’s a minor irritation as I don’t always have cash but always have my watch and phone so would prefer to pay by ‘card’ wherever possible.

Re: S1 Form holder in Cyprus - EHIC still valid.

OK, so basically my NHS-issued EHIC card is good for nothing. So the next question is, can I obtain a Cyprus-based EHIC card which can be used throughout Europe and maybe the UK? If so, how? Lloyd, yes you can. Our friends did this a few months ago. Book an appointment at the Citizens Advice Centre...

Re: Tourists as of today 4th April 2021

Having originally being a big fan of the SMS system, I now think it’s run it’s course and is adding little value, it must reduce contact a little but nothing like the impact it had last year, and certainly it’s not being policed with anything like the thoroughness it was March - May last year. Havin...

Hospitals almost full? They announced recently capacity had been more than doubled from the 200 limit that was the trigger for lock down at the start of new year, total hospitalised has fallen for the last 3 days from 221 to the 204 reported last night.

Firefly, yes it’s been mentioned in the press that numbers reported with the closeting issues of those who have taken the AZ vaccine are lower than would normally be expected in a sample of 17 million (and lower than those who’ve had the Pfizer vaccine). If the original clinical trial had been 17 mi...

Re: Cyprus suspends AstraZeneca Vaccinations

Bonkers in my view. 37 out of 17 million is something like 0.0000017%. Which is statistically speaking is about as close to zero as you can get. So are we all stop using Cif, Dettol, Domestos etc because they only kill 99.99% if all known germs? Of course not. Apply that percentage to the Cyprus pop...

Dee,

I’m sure I read several reports a couple of weeks back thatthe U.K. and Israel on the back of their real world data, have indicated that vaccination reduces transmission by around 65-70%.

Re: Coronavirus: Restriction free entry for vaccinated Brits from May 1

I’m sure the height and breadth of the wall of money will depend very much on geography and what type of work people do. Those who’ve been working from home and retained their full salary may well be in a good place, especially if they have / had significant commuting costs. Some may well be a lot w...
