Re: Access to Airports
But from what I have read, if you are in the short stay car park for more than 10 minutes you will have to pay before you can get out Trevor, after collecting the boss on Friday just a few hours after the changes were announced, I also collected some visitors on Monday evening. Since Friday they’ve...

Re: Best value PAYG SIM
Primetel for me. Top ups from €5 for PAYG and each top up valid for 365 days, unlike CYTA who have now cut, for example, a €10 top up to now only valid for 6 months and €5, I believe, to 3 months, so min €20 PA. Their pay monthly plans, I’ve had one for a few years, are pretty good value as well. If...

Re: EV cars and parking
To all the members, if you see an EV car in a car park do not park next to it. Park your car away from them, as there has been many fires in EV cars and they burn 4 time hotter that a normal car fire. Cars have been set on fire from an EV car fire. Go on youtube and search for EV car fires and watc...

Re: Peyia Post Office
When I went through Peyia recently, the roadworks start / end depending on your direction of travel, at the Post office. There is a patch of land on the opposite side from the post office via the diversion side with plenty of space for parking, 30-40m from the PO.

Re: Access to Airports
Just back from collecting Mrs PolemIan from Paphos. All fairly straightforward. There was a queue, around 15 mins, from the entrance to the picnic area that’s about 500m from the airport roundabout - that had all but gone on my way back so will entirely depend on the airport schedule at other times....

Access to Airports
FYI from Hermes website: Due to additional security measures at Larnaka and Pafos airports relating to the security check procedures, passengers are requested to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before their flight’s scheduled departure time. Moreover, following a decision by the Ministry of T...

Re: My cars headlights.
WD40 will work for a while, but it’s not a permanent fix. I tried the Armour All kit and it was next to useless for me. I the got the AutoGlym kit (from Droushiotis on Mesogi Rd), and the results were superb. If you’re not up to a bit of bending over and polishing with a cordless drill for an hour o...

Re: Paphos Smart Parking
FYI, since earlier this year, early spring sometime, CYTA have changed their top up validity periods and halved them. So a €10 since then is now valid for 6 months and €5 only 3. So it’s now a min of €20 PA to retain that CYTA number and I suspect a number of infrequent visitors will return to the ...

Re: Paphos Smart Parking
Not sure if it helps but we use the Sodap Beach car park which no longer takes coins. We haven't mastered the app yet but we used the texting process on our Cyprus PAYG and it is now helping to bring down our ridiculously high account balance which has built over the years due to the 10 euro charge...

Re: Secure delivery of letter to the UK
Thanks So it sounds like sending the passport by Registered Post should be ok And do you get a signature on delivery if you send it by Registered Post? The Passport Office in the UK say it is advisable to get a signature And can the letter be Track and Traced online like when you send a letter over...

Re: Secure delivery of letter to the UK
Does anyone know the best options and cost of posting a small letter by secure delivery to the UK ? I have recently renewed my UK passport online and they are asking me to return the old passport to the UK by post and they also advise to use signed for delivery So what are the options if I go to th...

Re: Secure delivery of letter to the UK
This post is mind-boggling. I have never had to send my old passport anywhere and I've got a pile of them on my desk. On reading your post, I have been asking myself whether it is not a scam. Is the destination address that they give you goldplated? If you decide to send it, make sure that the top ...

Re: ISOP the chaos begins!
Simple solution, if you know it’s going to be chaos, rightly or wrongly, just avoid the area at those hours - they’re the same everyday. Or just go further down Mesogi Road and come back up via the road by shipshape that bring you out near the Paphos HomeMarket, it’s hardly a massive detour.

Re: Old lenses-new frames
When I had new glasses earlier this year, I did exactly that with my old lenses to create a cheap second pair as my prescription hadn’t changed - one lens had a slight chip in that was driving me crazy but fine as a back up or when gardening etc.
This was with Panikos at Eye Contact on TOTK.

Re: Is it really worth hosing the solar panels?
If they are on the ground or vet easily accessible, yes. If they are difficult to get to or you need to pay someone more able to do it, complete waste of time and money. I used to clean ours. But now just leave the rains to do the job in the winter time. The stats I have show such a consistent set o...

Re: U.K. Passport Renewal Experience
I wonder if the new EU ruling affects British citizens, living in Britain. I hadn't heard of this before, I'm going to Rhodes in September for my granddaughter's wedding, my current passport expires in May 2024. Question is, will I be denied access to Rhodes if the issue date differs. I'll check th...

Re: Agora Tavern (Paphos Old town)
Agora is without doubt our favourite place to eat. We’ve been going for years in the old venue and now in the new location that opened last spring. Yes, it’s a meze, meat or vegetarian, vegan by request in advance, thought they do a smaller version at lunchtime. We haven’t been for lunch so not sure...

U.K. Passport Renewal Experience
I have recently renewed my passport and thought I’d share the experience with those that may be approaching the expiry date. Remember that these days the expiry date as far as the EU is concerned is 10 years from the issue date rather than the expiry date which may be later than that depending on ho...
