Re: Parking fees in Paphos
The 'new' car park behind the former police station, has meters. Its €1 for 4 hrs. Ihave seen the parking Meter man there during the day. Last night I joined others at the parking meter ticket machine. We all put our 1 euro into the machine and the ticket on the car. Just to make sure we didn't come...

Re: Flights into Paphos today
Yes, the same thought came to me, BrenGreen. It does seem strange to allow people in lockdown areas to jet off to another country. Hopefully if he has a negative test result, it will remain negative when he is tested again.

Re: Military Helicopters
As far as I know the Cypriot National Guard have neither night attack helicopters are anyone with the necessary training to fly them! The Cypriots may have a couple of small helicopters, but the large helicopters which are used for fire fighting are wet leased by the Govt each year for what may be c...

Re: Military Helicopters
As far as I know only the RAF helicopter pilots are trained and tested for night flying. But in practice, since most of the serious fires are up in the Troodos mountains, it is considered too dangerous to use helicopters after dark to fight fires. Because of the uneven terrain and thick smoke reduci...

I've yet to even see a police car patrolling on the roads around Paphos... rather disappointing!
Just sometimes our fairly static police presence in Chloraka.

I hope Cyprus has some young people who are better suited for responsible jobs, than those yobs who did this.

Re: Multiple offences in Paralimni ''school prank''
I think that whoever reported this horrible crime in the media as a school prank, deserves to lose his job as he obviously doesn't understand the English language well enough to report events or crimes using the correct terms. This awful crime was no trivial or indeed laughing matter.

Re: Tourist arrivals fall 81 per cent year on year in August
Given the continuing battle to reduce the number of Covid cases in Cyprus, and the problems that all countries are having with this virus, is it so surprising that people are simply taking their countries travel advice, to only make use of essential air travel? So, many people are taking their holid...

Re: Police ramp up checks for use of mobile phone by drivers
Mouse. I agree with you! Besides, the more complex modern cars are, even when you have got used to their confusing array of switches and dials, you then become reliant on their on board computerized system. Then something goes wrong. No longer can you rely on the experienced but relatively less tech...

Re: Police ramp up checks for use of mobile phone by drivers
I have the same requirements re finding a manual car, as your previous poster Staffie', whose wife also wanted a manual one.. A few years ago I was trying to buy a new small manual geared car. Particularly a Honda Jazz. I had many conversations with their salesman who kept trying to convince me that...

You could ask your doctor. Maybe they can advise you if/where this test is or maybe is available.

Re: Postal delays
There seem to be few problems regarding outbound mail arriving at the UK address. It is the incoming mail from the UK which is so unpredictable. My sister sent me a burtday present from the UK In late May, from Amazon. It has never arrived.😂 Also since the lockdown ended, and even when normal flight...

Re: Believing newspapers?
For supposedly unbiased reporting have you tried the Observer? They say they are not affiliated with any political party and can report independently also The Manchester Guardian. Why limit your views to what the Daily Mail, Express, Times and Telegraph report?. Personally, I like the Telegraphs sty...

Re: Police ramp up checks for use of mobile phone by drivers
I hope that the police do take action against as many drivers who are guilty of this as possible. Driving one handed, mobile clamped to ear seems to be a national obsession here. Particularly some drivers of HGV's -so dangerous.

Re: Stricter rules now in place before foreign nationals can get a driving licence
Until now, I had no idea that the old system for obtaining a Cyprus driving license was being abused by some. I have always applied for a driving license, including renewal, with a personal appearance with my documents at the Transport Office on Polis Rd, or latterly at the Citizens Help Office. The...

Re: Offended?Offensive? can you beat this one?
Anyone who treats all news stories as reported in the tabloids as gospel needs to get out more!! Its much better to buy a good news paper like the Guardian or the Observer whose reporting standards are better. I used to buy the Daily Mail long time ago where it was a broad sheet paper and before Rup...
