Re: Divine retribution?
Over the years, I've asked several members of the hunting community (here and in the UK) how can a human being derive pleasure from killing an animal. Never had a remotely reasonable answer. I had a pond years ago, and occasionally had to kill a fish which was diseased and had no chance of recovery,...

Re: Weather tomorrow (Friday)
Just out of interest, does anyone know where the weather stations in Tala and other villages are situated? There's a substantial one in the car park on St Paul's Avenue in Paphos, which is presumably the Ktima one, but I don't recall seeing anything as large as this in Tala, for example.

Re: CHLORAKA AMPHITHEATRE
JB - there are two main roads through Chlorakas. Driving from Paphos, there is a fork at the EKO garage. The lower road is the left hand fork and goes past the Community Board offices etc. The upper road goes past Jim Peck's. The roads re-join at Papantniou's.

Re: Weather tomorrow (Friday)
I have found this is the the very best/most accurate forcast as it shows satelite pictures of the clouds/rain/lightning moving https://www.worldweatheronline.com/v2/weather.aspx?locid=540493&root_id=538389&wc=local I've more or less ditched Accuweather and wunderground this year in favour o...

Re: Weather tomorrow (Friday)
wunderground's forecast for yesterday was rubbish - 18mm of rain up to midnight. Accuweather was more accurate - about 3mm. I think wunderground's forecasting has been hopeless for the last year or so, where rain is concerned. In fact, according to wundergound it should be raining right now, but it ...

Re: Car Insurance & Passports ...
Not sure if I gave a fictitious passport number, date etc. it would have worked. This would not be a particularly smart idea, because in some emergency in future you might be required to identify yourself to the bank by way of giving your passport number. Don't know if they still do it now, but CYT...

Re: Car Insurance & Passports ...
Whilst on the BoC web site recently, the bank asked me to update my details. My passport had changed a couple of years ago, but I hadn't bothered to tell them. I couldn't continue with internet banking until they had my details (presumably a Cypriot ID number would have been sufficient, but I don't ...

Re: Weather tomorrow (Friday)
Many thanks, Devil. I recall your recent interesting posting in which you said that all forecasters use the same data - the forecasts depend on how you interpret that data.

Weather tomorrow (Friday)
Note sure I've ever seen such a divergence of forecasts:
Wunderground - heavy rain all afternoon. 18mm in total during day
Accuweather - occasional showers. 3mm in total
WorldWeatherOnline - No rain!
Wunderground has always been the most pessimistic, but has been pretty poor during spring.

Terrific, Dominic. Many thanks. As the product is made by Ronseal, there's a chance I may find it on the island!

Sorry but Seeing Saviles name after the current news left a bad taste As opposed to Mengele or Hitler................. Unless I'm mistaken, Savile ruined many lives but didn't actually kill anyone (unless it could be proved that a victim committed suicide afterwards). If he had been convicted of hi...

According to statistics, 5% of inmates in US prisons are innocent.
Beggars belief, doesn't it.
Remember the West Midlands Police Force "Flying Squad" in the 70's?........

Re: Rotten wood
Louise - that is so very helpful. I am returning to the UK in a couple of weeks so I now know what I'm looking for. In the meantime, I can but try and find it on the island.
Many thanks again.

Rotten wood
As there's no DIY forum, I thought I'd try the General area. I have a fence post with a small rotten area. To remove or repair the post would involve more than the usual amount of work, so I would like to try a different solution. Years ago, in the UK, I had a window sill with a rotten area. A joine...

Wave breakers? Dee When they were building the breakwaters at Yeroskipou, the boulders they dropped in the water were immensely bigger than those brought in today and yesterday. And presumably they needed to be to prevent them being spread out by the tides (or is "tide" a dirty word on he...

Lighten up, Aphrodite.
I'm sure Firefly would agree that our comments were just tongue in cheek banter.
