Yes, it was cheap but a-bit scruffy... hopefully the refurb won't take all winter.

Re: Paphos Beaches During A Storm

Actually, even with the old Roman wall which is mainly submerged near the harbour, it is still unsafe to leave the boats which are normally moored there when a storm threatens. Hence most boat owners remove their boats elsewhere... The small sea wall around the harbour, once extended the length of t...

Re: Paphos Seafront Storms - The Article

Sorry you take it personally and attack me. Not everyone agrees with your views about everything, Plenty of people including some Cypriots who I know have voiced a similar opinion. Although most of the few people who post on here regularly seem to agree with you.. From what you have written recently...

Re: Paphos Seafront Storms - The Article

Yes, it was the previous Mayor. I was hoping that as our present one has done so much to change the whole sea front area, he might have had a low wall rebuilt while the major upgrade was in progress. But it seems that wasn't in his list of priorities.

Re: awning motor

I suggest you try Kassinos Rollex who have them. They also fit motors to electric garage doors.
Their shop is just off Ellados Ave, aka Polis Rd.

Re: Paphos Seafront Storms - The Article

Nice photos, Dominic.Thanks. I and a number of others echo your thoughts about the sea wall. As you say! Where thesea wall still exists, it does help to avoid the mess of sea weed, sand, stones etc which makes such a mess of the sea front in the rest of the harbour. A Cypriot who I know thinks the G...

Re: Paphos agrees contract for new bicycle rental network

It's good idea might appeal to some young tourists, but it's pretty much the end of the summer season. It will be a brave person who will hire a push bike in winter, and with variable weather. Not to mention the volume of traffic on many often narrow roads in the town.. Also some drivers are lets sa...

Yes, an excellent video. But I think that I'll wait until the path right to Chloraka is finished... as Dominic said earlier in a previous video some of the unfinished rocky parts look quite challenging!

Re: Thunder, Lightning and rain

Weather still wild atop the steep hill in Chloraka... The sea state looks rough with plenty of white capped waves, specially in the seas around the King Evalthon Hotel. Now cloud is gradually replacing the blue sky and sunshine and it feels as if winter is now approaching with the drop in temperatur...

Trev, I shared your thoughts about what to wear the last few days! But like you I am delaying turning on any heating.Just putting on a fleece if it feels chilly! Once the sun shines its nice and warm.....

Yes, I've used them too. Good and helpful service.
By the way, the Bank of Cyprus have closed their branch which used to be across the road, as have Alpha Bank, whose branch was further down the hill.

Drivers Beware!

If you are in the Old Town, Paphos, don't take the narrow lane nearly opposite Nero's Coffee Bar. It should lead to the top the hill up from the harbour, near the traffic lights... But the lane is still blocked off less than halfway up. So you have to turn left to-the big church and either try to tu...

Re: Further 66 traffic cameras due to come online

I was thinking about speeding fines issued remotely when motorists get caught by the new speed cameras on the highway. The first time Cyprus tried speed cameras, a substantial number of these fines were reported as not being paid!

Re: Triple Glazing

I have strong UPVC framed, sealed double glazing. It is the 'tilt and turn' type. When installed the heavy frames were cemented and screwed into the door and window reveals. I think that it was important to change all the windows in the house and their frames, with the new sealed double glazed window...
