Re: Lercanidipine 10 mg.

Galexinda You may well agree with Trevor, but my reaction to this drug is being monitored by my GP already. Why did you not state this in your original comment? Even so, I wouldn't wait for a review - but then my experiences have been acute reactions to antibiotics which needed immediate medical at...

Re: Are Cyprus Covid Cases Really Rising ?

The more tests there are the better the demographic picture and as Dominic writes in an earlier comment ''A better gauge, and one the papers do give most times, is the percentage positive. This was above 1% a while ago, but has now dropped back down to below 1%''. This figure, along with the number ...

Re: Cypriots reluctant to respond to the call for Covid-19 vaccination

I'm not surprised - not just ''vociferous anti vaxxers'' but various countries suspending one or other vaccine at different times in order to investigate health related concerns. As for the vulnerable groups, just the very fact they are vulnerable means their health issues have to be taken into deep...

Re: Lercanidipine 10 mg.

I agree with trevnhil.

Any adverse effects and I would immediately stop taking the medication and contact the doctor who had prescribed it, especially as it has to work its way out of the system which may take a matter of hours or days.

Re: 'Pay as you throw' garbage collection scheme

I found it worked better in our area when there were the designated colour bins for the different types of garbage. Not helped by the fact that the number of green bins for general household rubbish have been reduced in recent years from seven to one with that one bin serving two large apartment blo...

Re: UK State Pension Increase.

I have found this article which may help until you have spoken to the Pension Service. It appears that only part of your annual state pension will get the increase at 2.5%. However, ''The additional state pension isn’t linked to the triple lock guarantee and instead increases according to CPI inflat...

Re: 'Pay as you throw' garbage collection scheme

Paphos Mayor Phedon Phedonos, said that Cyprus would have to rethink its strategy, as introducing a ‘pay as you throw’ system with prepaid bags will not go down well with Cypriots. “Prepaid bags for disposing garbage cost some 2 euros a piece, while normal garbage bags cost 3 cents. With the current...

Re: Has anyone had Carpel Tunnel surgery here in Cyprus.

Perhaps because I used to work in a medical climate I'm not too shy about asking questions, but at the end of the day it is your body and you are entitled if not expected to ask questions - unlike a few years ago when no one would dream of querying what the doctor told them! I have a hard splint whi...

Re: UK State Pension Increase.

Best to phone the International Pension Centre: +44 191 218 7777 as they can give you a breakdown of the figures and are available Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 3.30pm (UK times). Don't be put off by recorded messages - you will eventually be connected with a helpful human being.

Firefly 1. Have you received a letter from DWP this year stating your new payment with effect from April? 2. Just checking records and the April payment has always been different to that of March or May because some days are paid at the old rate and some at the new rate. 3. DWP staff, Overseas Healt...

Re: Has anyone had Carpel Tunnel surgery here in Cyprus.

The only snag I see there is that means getting yet another referral. And what the Physio says may be at variance with what the Neurologist says.. I will wait to see what is suggested in 4 weeks or so.. But it is good that there is a surgeon in the hospital that I am already seeing a consultant.. O...

Re: Has anyone had Carpel Tunnel surgery here in Cyprus.

Another suggestion regarding the carpal tunnel splint is to ask a physiotherapist - not only for advice as to which may be the best design for you but may be able to get one (and possibly cheaper than if you buy at a pharmacy). No harm in asking for a demonstration of a few 'home exercises' too!

Just checked with friends in UK:
If the pension started before April 2016 the increase applies to the basic pension.
After April 2016 the increase applies to the whole pension.

Re: Covid vaccination portal only for people aged 57-58 opened at 8am

From reading this morning's comments on FB it appears there is now at least one older age group missing out because GESY is being so specific as to the age groups that can apply at any one time. Still a few 70+ have not managed to make an appointment and many in the early 60s.

Re: Has anyone had Carpel Tunnel surgery here in Cyprus.

I use Tassos Pharmacy in Chloraka and was able to get two suitable splints there - the lady was very knowledgeable and had a wide range of splints for hands and wrists, so suggest you have a look at the pharmacies as most have a section for this type of product. It is very important you get the corr...

Can also recommend Dr George Nicandrou at Blue Cross for hand and wrist ailments and surgery in 2011 has left me with a fully functional left hand. Alas I now have a major problem with the joint at the base of my right thumb and we are at the stage where he is managing the situation using hyaluronic...
