Re: Crown Resorts Horizon Renovation - January 2024
Well, Crown Resort as it formerly was, looked really shabby by the end. It was badly in need of refurbishment and the renewal of its pools and the Spa. As presumably, the spa, indoor pool and gym will all continue to be situated in the hotel's basement. I really hope that the drainage and sanitary f...

Re: Update on crematorium?
At the moment I don't know anyone who's asked this question, jeba. But certainly around Paphos and the villages nearby where a number of British expats live, the village cemeteries are full and new sites for cemeteries have had to be found. As this is an island, with limited suitable land, perhaps l...

Re: Update on crematorium?
I think main objections come from the Greek Orthodox Church. But under EU dictats every EU country needs to have a Crematorium. Greece has one.
From what I've read in todays 'Telegraph newspaper the Palestinians of a certain London Borough don't seem too concerned about offending indigenous Brits.

Yes, I agree. Triotech is simple to operate and provides UK TV channels and many others all pre- set.

Re: Masks and mandatory tests following Covid 'outbreak'
Holidaymaker, Are you a resident of the UK? I have come across some people there.who have strange ideas re wearing masks. In the UK there was an aversion to the word mask. The term there was 'face covering' Face coverings were flimsy fabric items useless as a mask. Introduced because the UK was woef...

Re: Aphrodite's Bridge
True, a while ago I had a friend with a good off road vehicle. He had done a lot of driving on old roads with the 4x4 Off Road Driving Group and knew the old white roads well in the Paphos area. We were all amazed by the number of them, probably once in use to the number of remote old stone villages...

Re: Masks and mandatory tests following Covid 'outbreak'
I was expecting that something was about to be done to try to reduce the spread of Covid. But I think it would also be sensible to wear a mask when in a Pharmacy or a Supermarket as well.

Maybe it was a slow news day... just a mention of an earthquake near Cyprus will get readers attention!

Re: Aphrodite's Bridgeq
Yes, I''ve walked part of the old road that you mentioned, and also as a passenger in a 4 wheel drive, we were told that it was originally a Roman road, it still runs between Aphrodite Hills and Alektora. In one place there was still the remains of Roman stone road paving. At that time some of the R...

Re: Aphrodite's Bridge
Its all supposition, as Max says no one knows. Probably the first settlers living in the Paphos area left traces of their presence by digging wells in the Lemba and Kissonerga area, 6000 years BC.These wells of which 3 were excavated by Archaeologists, showed evidence of having been dug with primiti...

Re: Aphrodite's Bridge
I guess that modern day developments like the construction of the nearby motorway and perhaps the creation of Secret Valley Golf course may be responsible for blocking the old river course. Maybe the winter rain run off of river water can be stored for using to irrigate the golf course in summer? Li...

Re: Cabinet orders revaluation of all Akamas projects in landmark decision
An interesting development, where a Govt let contract is concerned. The problem with many contractors is a seeming reluctance to interpret plans correctly. Many times they apparently get away with it. Certainly, when the local Govt has wanted to use its own contractor, they can do a lot of damage to...

Re: New Bus Stations Announced, And Fare Rises.
The 'new ' bus stop near the Archaeological Park was last summer in constant use by tourist coaches. I wonder where these coaches will park next summer? The present spot where the busses are parking is right at the back of the car park opposite the Leptos Head Offices. This latter spot is arguably m...

Re: Traffice light cameras
A conundrum! Like Trev, I have followed the example of other drivers when turning right at traffic lights ‘between’ the ‘2’ green lights! If you loiter the drivers waiting behind you are tooting their horns in frustration!
