Re: Driver parked at a place for people with disabilities and objected to the fine

It makes me feel angry when I see someone young and apparently fit park in a disabled bay close to the front door of the supermarket. Usually a man, but it's useless to say anything to them, all you get is a glare and a mouthful. I wish that the man employed by Paphos Council to fine overstayers at ...

Re: International drivers permit post Brexit

I tend to agree with Dominic. I remember reading something about the driving license a few months ago. I think that I read that visitors to Cyprus need to get an IDP if they want to drive on their English driving license while here. Alternatively, as you have an MEU 1, you could apply for a Cypriot ...

Re: Tourists will not need to send SMSs - Update 3 More Clarification

Yes, its obvious that the medical services and hospitals need to be protected. But, why were there suddenly so many more cases of covid , particularly in Limassol? Remember the unofficial Limassol carnival weekend of madness? Why didn't the police in Limassol work proactively to stop the mass gather...

Re: Coronavirus: Tourists to use form if can't send SMS, same restrictions apply (update 3)

What a mess, once again the Govt is trying to impose knee jerk reactions this time on tourists, probably in the vain hope that residents here won't notice... Apart from anything you can't send SMS to a land line which presumably the 22-285777 number given is. Just what is the logic in some of the ex...

Re: Anyone NOT having the vaccine?

Has anyone heard of Enteric coated Asprin? Its been available for years, but surprisingly many doctors don't tell their patients about it. The enteric coating helps it to be absorbed without it harming the digestive system. And yes, you can get it here in Cyprus, slightly more expensive, but worth i...

Re: EU's drug regulator backs AstraZeneca vaccine after safety investigation

I had the Astra Zennica jab, it was OK for me though it had some side effects, chiefly flu like symptoms for first 36 hrs. I would have preferred Pfizer had it been available.

Still, I hope that my reaction to it meant that I would develop anti bodies to the virus.

You will still be subject to the same restrictions. Probably he can print you a Form B, thats if you don't have a mobile with a local sim.

Re: Anyone NOT having the vaccine?

Sometimes avid readers of the social media channels end up taking wrong decisions...
of course people have the right to decide if they want to take the vaccine.
But apparently some of these people end up in hospital having caught the virus, and end up regretting that they refused the jab.

Re: Anyone NOT having the vaccine?

I am surprised that some people are determined not to have the vaccine. Unless there is a valid medical reason for this, it seems foolish not to avail oneself of the chance to get vaccinated. If people opt out thats their business, but they should bear in mind that getting the virus may well be much...

Re: Vaccine centre at the general

Hi Sadie, As you enter the front of the hospital through the glass doors, you will usually see queues of People queuing to register to your left. You will see the corridor to the right, walk down it and you will see chairs in the corridor for those waiting. When I went for my vaccination, it was the...

Like you I also like paying for my Gesy prescriptions using my debit card.
To date I have never been asked to pay cash by a Pharmacy either.

Re: Tourists will not need to send SMSs

Tourists probably wouldn't be able to send an SMS, unless they switched to a local sim card for their mobile. Guessing that probably most wouldn't bother.....

And we shouldn't have to keep sending an SMS every time we go out.

Re: YELLOW SLIP - DIP IN UK AND BACK

For the current rules on what the UK requires for a British person to leave the UK( which is currenttly forbidden unless you can produce an acceptable reason for urgent travel) Your best bet is to contact the BHC in Nicosia. They should be able to tell you.

Re: Cyprus marks 66 years of independence from British colonial rule

There you go again, WHL, venting your spleen. I was talking about accounts of what happened over the whole period of the troubles in Cyprus. I am also well aware of the three countries who were also involved. I am also trying to be diplomatic in my replies to you which is also difficult. But I am no...

Re: Cyprus marks 66 years of independence from British colonial rule

Actually, I have read quite a lot about the history of Cyprus. One thing which I have found that depending on who wrote the account of his experience of life in Cyprus over the period, 1959-74, that one can read, a different picture of actual events which happened paint a different picture. No side ...

Yes. a good idea! If your idea was adopted, the JCB's at Kamares, would be bearers of many of such stickers. While living there, we noticed that for every house being developed in our neighbourhood, we could expect some water or electricity outages. They often seemed to manifest themselves soon afte...

Re: Post-Brexit British nationals in Cyprus to also be able to vote in municipal elections

I read an account in an on line article, yes, its true that while the UK were EU members we could vote in municipal elections. I was one of those who registered to vote. But I read that now the UK is in negotiations for British legal residents in Cyprus, with the Cypriot Govt to continue to allow th...
