Dumping rubbish
Someone , a former tenant I think, has left a large flat screen TV in a communal walkway of our complex.
I don't mind taking it up to the skip, but I thought I'd read something that you have to pay to dump, is that right?

Re: Burglaries in Paphos.
In another thread related to breakins I asked about shutters etc. Someone recommend Stuart Porterfield. He arrived this morning and fitted grille's to my windows. I'm very pleased with his service and would recommend him if anyone else is thinking along that line. Can't remember who it was, but than...

Re: Burglaries in Paphos.
Just spoken to one of my neighbours.
He tells me that one of the people caught on a newly installed security system on our complex has been arrested, for recent break-ins.
A Cypriot guy apparently.

Re: Burglaries in Paphos.
In my experience (30yrs with Strathclyde Police and 12 yrs in the Scottish Court Service) run of the mill housebreakings were down to a, usually well known, core group. Before retiring from the police, I'd dealt with father's then their sons and during my time in the courts I saw the grandsons begin...

Re: Burglaries in Paphos.
Although not a victim myself (yet) there have been break-ins as recently as 4/5 weeks ago in the Universal area.
Five properties on our complex have been entered or tried.
Another couple on a friend's complex nearby have also been done.
Sadly, I'm sure that there will have been more.

Re: Aluminium window shutters
when we had a ground floor apartment (universal area) 8 years ago, there were renters in next door for 6 months approx, not English speaking, one particular day they moved out with help from others, unknown to us, the renters had sold all the owners furniture etc, obviously to theives, so even bewa...

Re: Aluminium window shutters
I think that's true when a house is continuously occupied as there's more likely to be high end tech equipment within as well as handbags, wallets and jewellery etc. I the case of a holiday home the only things particularly worth stealing would be a TV for example, unless the thieves start emptying ...

Re: Attempted break-in around Universal
Another update.....
Thieves appear to be doing the rounds, were caught on CCTV again last night on our complex.
Another two apartments on another complex (near Pambis Diner) have been broken into over the past couple of days.

Re: Kilt shop
To hire a kilt in the UK then take it to Cyprus doesn't really make sense. 1) you have to hire it for a longer period therefore it's more expensive And 2) kilts (and all of the accessories) are heavy beasts. Even if you dispense with the formal jacket and wear a ghillie shirt, there's still the shoe...

Re: Attempted break-in around Universal
? No right to Mooch? Our definition of mooch is obviously different, here's mine Any person who, without lawful authority to be there, is found in or on a building or other premises, whether enclosed or not, or in its curtilage or in a vehicle or vessel so that, in all the circumstances, it may rea...

Re: Attempted break-in around Universal
Morning. For information.... I've just been informed that two persons were caught on newly installed CCTV at 3:15 this morning (Cyprus time) mooching around the same complex. One male one female. As far as I have been told, the police have seen the footage and can identify the female, but say that t...

Re: March 1 is when Covid rules at Cyprus airports are relaxed
Some of my family flying out on 2nd March to view wedding venues, and I'm out for a week on 16 March.
So am I correct in saying that all we need now is the flight pass and proof of our vaccinations and boosters.

Attempted break-in around Universal
Hi all For your information. I've just been informed that three houses on our complex in Universal (near the Primary School) have been the subject of attempted breakins. The door locks were broken but it appears that no entry was gained and that the housebreakers were disturbed as they left a full b...

Re: TV recomendation
Started watching Money Heist and loved it , but read there was 41 episodes and still more to come which put me off..I find many of these series go on to long and introduce more diluted down episodes. The first example was “ Lost “ a brilliant concept which became bizarre and unbelievable. I feel th...
