Re: Woman charged for leaving dog on balcony during heatwave (Updated)
No, I should apologise Kili01. I had just been discussing with a colleague yet another person who is returning to the UK and "can't" take their pet dog with them for some spurious reason or another. It was unforgivable to take it out on you or anyone else on the forum. I can't delete the p...

Re: Woman charged for leaving dog on balcony during heatwave (Updated)
God Almighty the amount of people who live bathed in privilege who tell me they would have a dog -but - you know ....We might want to go out, on Holiday, have friends round, go round the feckin' twist. Not to mention the HAIR, I deal with the aftermath of these feckin' eejits who are told that you c...

Re: Woman charged for leaving dog on balcony during heatwave (Updated)
I'm not very rich. I live in a semi detached town house with a little Granny flat around the back. I don't have access to a huge garden and a swimming pool I work for an animal charity and I do my best.. I've turned most of my house into a beautiful place for my rescue dogs. Play areas, their own li...

Re: Woman charged for leaving dog on balcony during heatwave (Updated)
I'm not sure that I agree that an apartment is an unsuitable home for a Labrador. It very much depends on the dog, the apartment and the owner. A loved and cared for large dog who is exercised regularly is far better off in an apartment than in an overcrowded shelter.

Re: Chaos with SafePass on first day of implementation
Supermarkets are still carrying out delivery services, I believe, so nobody will be starved into doing something they don't want to do. Of course that may be less convenient for them, but also more convenient than the protracted lockdowns to which the rest of us have been subjected.

Re: Redcurrant Jelly and Mint Jelly
When we first arrived here 18 years ago I brought 32 jars of Chicken Bovril and made them last as I didn't think I could get it here. It's all gone now and the withdrawal symptoms are terrible! If anyone is going back and has room for a jar in their suitcase on return there's a drink in it for you....

Re: Redcurrant Jelly and Mint Jelly
Chicken Bovril in a jar lasts 18 years ... Wow !!! Were some of the jars a bit out of date ;-) A little - but I hadn't broken the seal on the jars so they survived pretty well. I am truly desperate now however, and the more I post about it the more I can smell and taste it which isn't helping! By t...

Re: Yes or No?
Regarding odd restaurants, there was a famous one in London's China Town called Wong Kei. They were famous for having really really rude staff. You go there and its "You sit here". Look at the wrong menu and "That menu not for you. This your menu. Put that one down". Funniest wa...

Re: Bar and restaurant owners say patience wearing thin
I don't want to make a nuisance of myself at the local medical centre but I am now really at the end of my tether. I will pop in again this afternoon and beg. Again. I will be told, I expect, that I will be contacted at a later date. Goodness it is frustrating! Particularly when so many people have ...

Re: Bar and restaurant owners say patience wearing thin
I wish I could have a vaccination. I'm 61 and have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I'm still waiting for my turn. There seems to be such a drive to vaccinate people who don't want it that those of us who do are being left behind. It will be very difficult for my household if it transpires that, because I c...

Re: Rules for Bars/Restaurants/Cafes
Himself and I were mightily tickled by the idea of all our friends and acquaintances being compelled by the Devil's Music to "stand and rock around the table". To the point where I now can't get the image out of my head ...

Re: Bloodlands, BBC 1, new series.
I have the same problem as Mike.1940. Strong Irish or Scottish accents often spoil my viewing, a pity but there it is. No problem coping with the strangulated Essex vowels on any other programme, or poor Steven Mulhern trying desperately to get to grips with his first language then? Or the sainted ...

The Railway's Fish and Chip meals are absolutely gorgeous, and we have it every Friday too. Can't wait until we can actually go there to have a lovely pint of cider with it and a chat to Amy and Chris.
