Re: Delays in air traffic over German and Austrian airspace

I've been on a few flights where several crews from other airlines were on board, ready to board flights out of Cyprus. So no idea why they were on board, but clearly possible to move crews around wherever needed, even using other airlines. I've also seen them performing some crew duties!!

Re: Wimbledon!

'A tournament for the priviledged. Whilst in most sports in UK there are many coloured participants, why are there so few, if any, in UK Tennis?, Disagree, tennis is no more a privileged sport than any other. Why is it an issue if there are so few coloured participants?? I'm not sure there are, but ...

Re: 1955 Hull video

Dev, I do remember going to the cinema in Hull with quite a few neighbourhood kids to see the film Davy Crockett, don't think I was 12, given the film was made in 1955, but perhaps not much younger! Just loved the nostalgia! Do you know Hull?

Re: UK - NHS doctors vote to stop charging overseas patients

Good question Trev and one which many of us have questioned, and as time goes on continue to do. She was persuaded by her siblings in the UK that she needed to be with her family. But all tests and examinations had been done here and treatment was all set to commence the day after she left Cyprus fo...

Re: UK - NHS doctors vote to stop charging overseas patients

I have a friend, resident here for 14years, actually in the UK at the moment seeking serious cancer treatment. She has been there almost 7 weeks now and no treatment has begun, she is now being questioned about her income and the value of her house. Something I have never come across before - she ha...

Re: UK - NHS doctors vote to stop charging overseas patients

Sheer lunacy. Have they no notion of the difficulties the NHS is already in?? Why in Gods name should the UK foot the bill for overseas health seekers??
The logic defeats me.

Paphiakos Bookshop Tremithousa

The Paphiakos Bookshop and Bric a Brac shop will be closing at 1.00 pm from July 1 until August 31. This is to accommodate volunteer holidays. We will be open as usual from September 1. The newly opened Bric a Brac half of the shop is doing exceedingly well, so many many thanks to everyone bringing ...

Abandoned fishing nets

Just watched an item BBC news re abandoned fishing nets and the problems they cause for sea life. Absolutely appalling, they can weigh hundreds of tonnes and trap dozens of species of sea life. Several volunteer groups from the UK, possibly other countries, going out to cut these nets free and bring...
