The UK and EU have agreed the terms for future cooperation on financial services between the two jurisdictions. “Formal steps need to be undertaken on both sides before the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) can be signed but it is expected that this can be done expeditiously,” The Treasury said in a...

Re: Russian tourists welcome in Cyprus from 1st April

My Russian neighbours from St Petersburg arrived in Chloraka last night with negative tests. They were told to house quarantine for 14 days. So seemingly mixed messages here. Dee Always dubious about 'house quarantine' as it is unlikely people will stay at home for that period of time or have no vi...

Re: Coronavirus: Half of state healthcare workers unvaccinated, three who refused jab test positive

Impressed with the clinic I use for doctor visits, lab tests etc but even so I do my own 'cleaning' of places I am likely to touch with my hands - but then I do that wherever I go because I don't know who has been there before me. The staff have got used to me cleaning the door handles and the arms ...

Even as far back as 2003 in the NHS trust where I worked any person in my department who refused to follow the infection control procedures would be removed from direct contact with patients. Was impressed when I visited my accountant recently with the safety procedures she had in place - even had h...

Fully endorse the recommendations for Dr Evros and Dr Nikoletta. First came across them in 2004 and over the years have seen a few others but they are always my first choice and so delighted they are on GESY. Extremely thorough, kind and compassionate.

Re: Dermatologist Yiannis

Cannot answer your question directly but a neighbour wanted to see Dr Yiannis due to the many great recommendations but as he is not on GESY decided to make an appointment with Dr Christoforos Loizides at the Iasis Hospital. Not only was he very happy with the treatment and follow-up care but he did...

Re: Just seen on "In Cyprus"local news page

I can also remember when we could only stay within the limits of Paphos District - and at one stage, perhaps for 2-3 weeks only the general public was allowed to only shop at the nearest supermarket, pharmacy etc when there were clusters of positive cases in certain areas eg Geroskipou. Agree with L...

'Up until 3 pm on Tuesday, just 57% of some 7,500 affected people had rescheduled, suggesting that some mistrust has built up over AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 jab. Cyprus suspended vaccinations of AstraZeneca on 15 March, restarting on 19 March, pending an investigation of the EU medicine agency (EMA) in...

It is not possible to 'just lockdown Limassol' due to the number of people who travel from different areas to work there. Closing restaurants, tavernas etc only in Limassol will not work because people will just drive further. Locking down the island will only result in an increase in numbers when t...

Re: Coronavirus: Vaccinations for all those over 45 by first week of May (Updated)

Before making yet another lower age group eligible for the vaccination I really do think the next batch should be made available only those who are older and have been unable to make their appointment. Any left over can then be allotted as usual. Also surprised that people in the vulnerable category...

There are many thousands of different versions, or variants, of Covid circulating. Apart from the Brazil variant (also known as P.1), concerns focus on a few: A UK or Kent variant (also known as B.1.1.7) now dominant in much of Britain, has spread to more than 50 countries and appears to be mutating...

On the few occasions I have mislaid a purse I have immediately cancelled any bank cards and gone to the police to report it stolen/lost and so I would immediately contact the police should I ever find one, notifying any nearby kiosk/shop that I had done so, just in case the person came back to ask a...

Military intelligence sources said a “hostile state” had regularly attempted to interfere with the A400M transport aircraft’s sat...
