Re: Imperial System making a comeback?
PB I did not and was not saying the young people were stupid, the point I was trying to make was that things the older generation took for granted (ie reciting tables parrot fashion etc), telling the time, tying shoelaces do not seem to be taught to the younger generation.

JK is that the same young people that cannot read an analog clock and an exam board had to stop the exam and change the clocks to digital ones?

Imperial System making a comeback?
With the UK leaving the EU next March 2019, will the UK stop using metric measurements and go back to the good old fashioned imperial system(s)? Those of a certain age can remember these measurements of course, thou/inch/foot/yard/chain/furlong/mile and if you are old enough a league! For area, will...

Is this a deterrent?
Is this two and a half year sentence really a deterrent and sufficient for this case? No driving licence, no insurance, no tax, under the influence of drugs, fallen asleep at the wheel, and also charged with manslaughter. From http://in-cyprus.com/news/local/driver-jailed-for-fatal-collision-that-ki...

Jean Claude Junker - Fit for Purpose?
It appears that some people think that Junker may not be fit for office! - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5970335/Jean-Claude-Juncker-accused-alcoholic-govern.html I have no issues with someone having a like for drink but there are so much at stake here (for the UK and EU) should he be in o...

Re: Couple beaten and robbed at Peyia beach
Perhaps the bars should form a Pub Watch system and communicate with each other and warn others who have caused trouble in one bar and been ejected so they are not let in another bar. Also the bars should stop serving people that are drunk and then trying to wash their hands of them when trouble is ...

Got a call at 10.35am the same day saying the fault was theirs and had been fixed, even better it had and works well. A...

Re: Alleged British Atrocities?
I presume that if you are a terrorist organisation you do not have to play by the rules (Would you be a terrorist if you played by the rules?).
However I suspect that a Government is duty bound and expected to be above board and not resort to illegal activities.

Re: 2342 drivers caught speeding in first two weeks of July
MM, reported means the driver(s) have had a fixed penalty ticket or a report will be submitted with a view of the alleged offender getting a summons. Charged means that a person has been arrested and a charge read out to them at the Police Station and then either straight to court or bailed to appea...

Re: Tourist given suspended jail sentence for indecent assault
Whilst it is very good to see that the Cyprus Courts system can fast track cases on foreign nationals, why is it that other cases (and often simple ones) within Cyprus can take years and years to resolve? The other issue is what use is a suspended sentence as a punishment when the chances are that t...

Re: any one notice change of speed limit?
This shows that speed enforcement is not just easy targets. (211km/h is 131mph) A man was sentenced to 21 days in prison on Thursday in Limassol after he was caught speeding. The 31-year-old had been caught driving at 211 km/h instead of the allowed 80km/h. In addition to the prison sentence he is n...
