Re: New PM fails on climate
Alok Sharma hit the nail right on the head. The new boy on the block has to make himself known to the other kids. By not doing so he risks being ostracised as being a nobody. I have never seen a bunch of film stars or rich dudes at these meetings. The real sense of them is the discussion of serious ...

Re: New PM fails on climate
And my point is that politicians sitting on their bums totting up figures does absolutely nothing either for the environment or for contributing towards helping the world to become more livable.

Re: New PM fails on climate
the days of it being a global power are long gone. Maybe, but why? Because we let it go that way by our insularity. Our FU Jack attitude has gone a long way to isolate the UK from the rest of the world. This is illustrated well by the notion of the PM (or rather his civil service minions than himse...

Re: New PM fails on climate
U.S. climate envoy Kerry: King Charles at COP27 would be βvery powerfulβ Opposition Labour Party leader Keir Starmer criticised Sunakβs decision. βMany people would be expecting the prime minister of the UK not just to attend COP but to use it as an opportunity to pull world leaders together,β he sa...

New PM fails on climate
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-63426674 There is little doubt that climate is a burning issue (pun intended). The new Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has opted not to attend the meeting of the COP27 in Egypt in the coming weeks. It would seem that he does not have his priorities right because thi...

Re: Most effective angle for PV panels
Yesterday, we got maximum radiation of 735 W/m2 between 12:40 and 12:45. It dropped to 411 W/m2 to a minimum at 14:11 and then rose again to about 600 with a new maximum of 450 W/m2 at 15:00. Simultaneously, the temperature maxed at 13:06 at 26.8Β° C, dipped to 26.3Β° C at 14:10 then rose again to 26....

Re: Most effective angle for PV panels
Being a bit thick here, but surely the experts who are installing the panels should know the correct angle for installation ? The whole point of my previous post is that there is no correct angle within limits; the design of the panels takes care of the angle by combining reflection and refraction ...

Re: Most effective angle for PV panels
I live and learn! For many years, our hot water heaters were fixed at an angle of about 50Β° on the notion that there was an excess of solar radiation in summer and more or less anything would go but that, in winter, one would get better water heating if the panels faced directly towards the sun. Thi...

Re: UK Politics: Truss Resigns
I never said that the benefits you obtain were free of charge. Of course you pay for them but the advantage that it's the same treatment for everybody at the same price for everybody, at least in theory. The problem arises largely from Westminster and the way that our elected persons (always without...

Re: UK Politics: Truss Resigns
The millions we no longer send to the EU must be somewhere. Let me guess: despite your question regarding the millions misspent to support the failure of the UK government, you, personally, support the band of miscreants that have brought the country to ruin. Looking back to the end of the war in 1...
