Re: Rita Sherry

Very sad news. A lovely lady and a valuable contributor to both this forum and CL. She was always polite and extremely knowledgeable. Condolences to her family.

Re: I did it again: enormous Barracuda for Lunch.. (pics)

Max, you are accusing me of not being relaxed. I was just pointing out that what you said you consumed would have taken you over the drink drive limit in Cyprus. So you only drank half of the beer, that is 330ml, the same as a can in the UK. Plus the beer is over 4% volume by alcohol, so fairly stro...

Sorry Max, I disagree with you about being within the drink drive limit. Just one keo would take you to around the limit in Cyprus and a double Zivania would certainly take you over.

If you get them on an oleander bush, they can decimate the foliage almost like a swarm of locusts.

Re: Villa in Konia

We used to go to Konia Tavern for their meze, before Costas opened. We reckoned at the time it was the best meze in Paphos. Might be worth giving it a try. As Lloyd said, there are lots of good places to eat in Kouklia (Gabriels is our favourite,) Mandria and of course your favourite, Costas. We hav...

Re: The newish dual carriageway to the direction or the airport

Thank goodness for that. Hope they have made the single carriageway stretch, up to the roundabout, 65kph also, as this is the stretch were taxis drive cm from your rear if you are doing 50 and then overtake on the left hand side of you as you go round the roundabout. Trev, there are drops for cyclis...

Happy New Year to everyone on the forum. New Year Resolutions all attained last year; two years smoke free, and completed all the goals I set myself. Hope to walk around the Lynn Peninsular in 2019 from Menai Bridge to Porthmadog.

We use a calor gas fire for direct heat and our aircon units, for, as Devil said, they are extremely economical on the heat setting.

Re: Vardas beach just before Christmas 21/12/2017

Thanks Jim for posting both the Vardas Beach photo and the video. I love walking or cycling along the coast, whether it is in Cyprus or Wales. I have been out on my bike today here in North Wales. Temperature 8c and a westerly breeze but some sunshine. However, the sun has no warmth in it, unlike Cy...

Agree, it is horrendous what these people are going through and the worry and stress it is causing. Cyprus really does need to clean up its act as far as property is concerned.

Re: Activists protest over illegal parking on pavements

I walked down the Polis Road to the old town this year, whilst Rosemary was at the physio. Dangerous, as so many parked cars blocking the pavement, so most of the walk was on the road. One shop owner had actually built a wall to make the pavement outside his shop a parking area. Would not do this wa...

Much better than the smelly seaweed. :D
It does say in the article it is a good thing. At least the foam you get in Cyprus is not frozen. Last year, in March, Beast from the East weekend, I took this photo on Anglesey, and the foam was frozen solid.

Re: Something for Papantoniou to try maybe

Brilliant. Made me smile. Our first Christmas in Cyprus, fourteen years ago. We were in a long queue at the checkout at Chris's Cash n Carry, before it became Carrefoure. Just as we were about to unload our goods onto the conveyor belt, a supervisor came over and closed the till and we had to wait a...

Sorry, can't help with photos at the moment as my daily walk is now along the prom at Rhos on Sea and Colwyn Bay. I know this is Cyprus, but strict hygiene regulations should be enforced island wide, with no exceptions. In the UK all establishments that serve food are inspected and graded. This is f...

Yes, she found that funny. It was obvious that WHL, yet again, was goading Jim. I do not usually get involved with forum arguments, so I am now going on my walk and hope to meet some interesting people on the bench at Geroskipou Beach.

Re: Rikkos beach

Walked past today, Sunday. New kiosk up and running but did not venture inside. I always use Stavros's Kiosk for my coffee, next to the Imperial Hotel, which is impeccably clean and one of the nicest coffees you could have.
