Re: From the British High Commission - new tax laws
This is my situation. I have a private pension and a government employee pension (not full years service) but the combined total puts me over the Cyprus tax free threshold so I have always declared and paid tax here. When I first read the details of the new Double Taxation Agreement I thought I wou...

Wow what a tempting looking dish - superb pictures as usual. I think I might try the salmon for dinner this evening but I take red wine with mine because I prefer it but was once reliably informed salmon is the one fish dish one can take red wine with. Whatever.

No need to demand Photolady - I just requested reissued cards although my old ones would have expired end of October in any event. New cards now in my possession.

Re: Ladies hairdresser recommendation
Pollydoodle I have just picked up on your post - having just returned from the UK - so not caught up with all posts. It was I who recommended Johnny Boo to Lloyd's good lady Ann as I have been a client of his for several years, Indeed I have been to the salon today but John is away on a short break ...

Re: BA credit card fraud
Thank you Rita for your very kind words. When I checked tonight, neither I nor my wife has received an email from BA. I got the impression from the news on tv tonight that it was only customers who actually made an online tranaction during the two week hacking period who are vulnerable, and not peo...

Re: Cataract Surgery
Dee I have now searched my document file and found the name of the Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon who removed my cataracts and gave me new lenses. His name is George Papamichael MD PhD DCL and his address is in Nicosia- My bill says " fee for cataract extraction by phacoemulsification". His...

Re: Cataract Surgery
Lloyd I dont think your Maria is one and the same as the lady at the Iasis where she is permanently based. The gentleman who operates is from Limassol had not had chance to look into my papers for his name but the Iasis Maria is one of the people who assists him. I have no doubt your recommendation ...

Re: Cataract Surgery
Dee I can support Trev's recommendation. I had cataracts removed from both my eyes (not both at the same time) at the Iasis late in 2016/17. Maria is a very competent lady as is the consultant who comes from Limassol. I only returned from the UK late Wednesday night but I have all the details filed ...

Anyone losing out re their credit card would have the Banks guarantee re refund but the whole picture was more serious at t...

Re: BA credit card fraud
I returned from London by British Airways on Wednesday (5/9) and have received the promised email from BA. Checked my credit card statement and all is as it should be - thank you BA for your prompt service and good trip. I advise anyone who has booked and paid by credit card to check their account i...

I suggest, especially after reading this article, that people keep their thoughts about Hillsborough to themselves. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/hillsborough-norman-bettison-emotions-must-15055181 I totally agree with your sentiments and trust they will be noted and acted upo...

Re: Brexit means Titanic - very clever :-)
Not just Brexit, but a dog's dinner of the whole country (cf. stabbings, racial issues, terrorist attacks, reduced purchasing power, discord with 'devoluted areas' and many other problems.) I agree Devil. Watching the UK news and reading the occasional UK newspaper reallyy is depressing reading. Fr...

Even a right-handed person (like me) can sometimes take a few swipes to get it to work. There is a definite technique to swiping though. But I must admit that it must be a lot harder to swipe-right if you are left-handed. In a similiar vein, I thought my s-in-l was having me on last week when he re...

Re: No deal Brexit - UK expat pensioners could be chucked under the bus?
Dee Australia and Canada have their own pension systems in which British ex pats are members. Those countries provisions re immigration were for younger working people not retirees so the former would be subject to insurance etc rules of that country. Anyone when reaching retirement age is entitled ...

O for the Wings of a Dove
Far away, far away would I rove
In the wilderness build me a nest
And remain there for ever at rest
