Not on this forum, as far as I am aware. I was taking the broader view.

Re: Finally, realisation seems to have appeared
I know a number of Brits over here who have had a visa refused when trying to take their non-EU wife to the UK. They laugh when people go on about uncontrolled immigration. Those who voted to leave the EU in order to end all immigration see no irony in going for a curry in the local "Indian&quo...

Re: Rain and Thunderstorms for Friday..
I never understand why people come to Cyprus because, amongst other reasons, of the sun. They then complain about the heat and pray for rain. Then when it does rain, they complain that their pool is now full of dust, and too cold to swim in. I guess, in a nutshell, that is what being British is all ...

Re: EHIC query ...
I had a UK EHIC card issued earlier this year from the UK, based on the fact that I had been previously been issued a S1 form (having reached 65) so I could get my CY medical card. My non-EU wife was issued one as well. She was previously issued a SI as well, even though she is under pension age, as...

Re: Sorry,MEU3 again.no need to panick??
Also, as you must be resident for 5 years and residency is evidenced by a MEU1, then it is logical to have to hold a MEU1 for 5 years prior to applying for a MEU3.

I firmly believe it is not up to me, or anyone else, to dictate what women should wear. Obviously there is a need to keep within the realms of decency, but women covering up certainly can't be accused of not being decent. We must look at why many people in Britain don't like women wearing Islamic dr...

Re: Paphos Chamber wants airport expanded
The budget airlines try to keep airport costs to a minimum. This is why they have cattle pens. It means a number of flights use only one gate, keeping gate costs down. The other airlines don't use them, and have higher ticket prices as a result.

All this might make him a lot keener to ditch the North and let them come to a settlement with the Republic. At the moment the North is a large drain on Turkish finances.

Very true. However, My comment was based on a delay to an exit, rather than a future referendum on whether to remain out or apply to move back in.

Re: Latest Brexit poll
The message here for me is that, given the tendency for older people to pass away and younger to reach 18, the longer this goes on the more likely a remain result in a second referendum. Therefore I advocate as much delay as possible.

Re: Armed robbery at Paphos Mall
What evidence do you have that the police were slacking? It is likely they (there are only 2 of them, who patrol as a pair) would have been on one of the two shopping levels. This is why they are there, to show a presence and reassure the public vis-a-vis terrorism (similar to the presence at the ai...

Re: Average monthly living expenses
Many people could live a good life on 500 - 700, but could you? The only person who could answer that is you and you don't know yet. I echo Dominic's advice and try it before you commit yourself. That is what I did and kept records of all spend during the time. Then I went back to the UK and played ...

This is obviously a case of Blue orange covering their backside. Now that they have written to everyone, if anything happens it isn't their fault. It's yours.

This saddens me, almost makes me wish Cyprus would leave the eu and tighten up its borders ! So you know he isn't Cypriot then, because otherwise you could be accused of trying to make a political point out of someone else's misfortune. I'm sure that isn't the case. As he spoke English and obviousl...

Re: Chloraka beer festival.
Josef, I hope you'll forgive me adding one last 'off-topic' post, but a famous person once said: "I'd rather live my life believing that there is a God and die and find out that there isn't; than to live my life as if there isn't a God and die and find out that there is". Just sayin' ;) T...

Re: Chloraka beer festival.
I like your style Dominic.
Actually I didn't bother with the beer much, as the music was the thing for me. As far as I could see, there were the usual local suspects and some Greek ones. Nothing to get excited about. As I said, it was the music that mattered.

Re: Cremations in Cyprus still far off
So it has been possible to build a crematorium here for the last two years. That's strange, as I seem to recall everyone blaming the church and the government for the lack of progress.
What happened to those screaming to be allowed to build one?
