Infomir Mag boxes

We have been using Mag boxes for some years and are very happy with them. We have a Mag 256 which is showing signs of being tired and a bit glitchy. I am considering “upgrading” to the 500 series (which I believe is the latest version) and have considered the 524 series, but there is also the 540 se...

Cyprus to UK Post

We sent an important letter to our daughter in Sussex last week. We posted at the local post office in Polis on Monday morning (and registered the letter). It arrived on Wednesday morning in East Sussex. To say I was impressed would be something of an understatement …

Re: Smart App or SMS Payment Required At 8 Parking Locations From Monday

Well I followed the link, read the article twice and I’m none the wiser. We park next to the District Court and pay the man €2 for the privilege. Quo Vadis?

Covid 3rd Booster

I have been trying to book my 3rd covid booster through the GESY vaccination portal. Is is more than five months since my second booster. The automated response is that I have completed my course of vaccinations.

Has anyone come across the same problem?

Leaf Blower anomaly

We are considering buying a leaf blower, which also vacuums the collected leaves and “mulches” them. We would like a cordless model. The illustrated model in the link is a possibility but we were intrigued by the fact that “batteries and charger are available separately”. It’s probably my interpreta...

112 Cyprus app

I came across a telephone app (free) on both the Apple and Google Play Store called 112 Cyprus. It calls the emergency 112 number in the police control room and all your details are automatically relayed, which can then be forwarded to the emergency vehicle. We live in the middle of a field at the e...

Three phase it is, and even confirmed on the meter and the fuse box in our electrical hut at the end of the track (our cables are laid underground for the last two hundred metres). Many thanks Max.

Induction Hobs and Phase 3 electricity

My darling wife has decided she would like an induction hob to replace the gas hob in our kitchen. So off to the shop and look at induction hobs. We researched induction hobs and read that some of the “cheaper models” did not allow all four cooking zones to be used at the same time. Hmm … Back to th...

Re: Top Gun Maverick

The subtitles can be removed before watching the film. That's what we did. Normally I click on the APP button on my remote control and select “No Subtitles”, but this does not remove them from this film. Hence I used the term “hard-wired”. Yes that is the system we use. So your magbox is a differen...

This appeared on my Magbox the other day but unfortunately it had Chinese/Japanese subtitles “hard-wired” into the film. So I’ll just have to wait for a clean copy to emerge on my system.
