Re: What a terrible situation in Gaza - again!

ApusApus,
As you are waiting to see, then In my opinion you have misinterpreted the comment. I read it to mean that for every minor attack (eyelash) the IDF would retaliate with a more substantial (and in my opinion, disproportionate) action (eye).

Re: The Royal Wedding

I'm not surprised the sermon went on too long. Most sermons go on too long. It's a fact that some people will always find something to moan about, no matter what. So priests are trained to go on a bit too long. The thing is it was supposed to be an address and not a sermon. Problem is after it all ...

Oh dear, a military man unable to spell the word honourable. Whatever next :(
Your snide comments detract from what you want to say, don't you realise this?

Re: Cyprus on EU radar over failure to transpose environment directives

But if countries join the EU club (with all the benefits which come from it) they must expect to abide by regulations which pertain to all member states in a number of key areas. If some states don't comply with the rules and regulations they render themselves liable to be fined...what's so difficu...

Re: Cyprus on EU radar over failure to transpose environment directives

Is it not right for the EU to have environmental concerns and safeguarding legislation? Yes, but check out the number of countries within the article that have not followed the EU directives on the environmental matters and that are on the point of being fined for non-compliance. Still, I suppose t...

Re: Supermarkets - plastic bags

I suggested hers was a lesson which could well be learned by Immigration, which require attendees to use use prolific amounts of paper in support of the most simple proofs. Agreed. It would be nice if such a departments would come into the 21st Century and allow the submission of such documentation...

Re: Russian expats demand action over crime

Less than 20 people attending each demonstration isn't much of an outcry and unlikely to hold any water. Sounds like a comment from my old school PE reports: Must Try Harder Maybe because of the lack of publicity of such demonstrations. However we now know when the next one will be (4 June, Kennedy...

Re: Senior Brexiteer Dan Hannan admits leaving EU is not quite going to plan

Not going to plan. This always assumes that there has ever been a plan. This government has contrived to make such a hash of things, despite the majority of people voting for it. As it stands the it is obvious that the lack of intelligence within the government they are about to make a dog's breakfa...

Re: Wizz air

My wife and I fly with Wizzair to Belgrade just before Xmas and return at the beginning of April. We have done this for 4 years. We find that if you join their frequent flyer type programme at about €30 per year (covers 2 people travelling) it more than covers the cost in reduced fares. We also book...

Re: Windrush Ooh Aah

The object of the opposition is to hold the government to account. It's no use the government (or Hudswell et al) pointing the finger at the opposition's shortcomings as they are not in power and have not been for some 10 years. The government has to get its own house in order. Reference to targets ...

Re: Windrush Ooh Aah

Hudswell, The destruction of the landing papers might have been signed off under a previous Labour government but the actual destruction of those papers was carried out under a Tory government. The original 'sign-off' probably never envisaged a more rigorous application of a policy against the Windr...

Re: Windrush Ooh Aah

Politicians scoring points, whatever next. I used to watch PMQs but no longer. Questions are never answered. Whenever MPs of both parties appear on a programme such as 'Daily Politics' all you get is the party line in response to questions and even when questions are rephrased in the hope of eliciti...

Hudswell, First of all it is Yvette Cooper. Secondly if Labour wanted a stronger action on the deportation of illegal immigrants then why not. It was the present government's decision to apply a deportation programme to legal immigrants (TM's own words that the Windrush immigrants are in fact legal)...

Re: Windrush Ooh Aah

Rita, you seem always as an apologist for the Tory mistakes. Not impartial as I would perhaps admire more, from a civil servant. That is totally wrong and in my opinion grossly insulting. Without comment I have followed this theme very closely and have been highly impressed with Rita's postings, fa...

Re: Windrush Ooh Aah

Rita,
Thanks for the info on 'indefinite leave to remain'.

Regarding the actions now being taken to correct the 'wrongs', the words 'stable door' and 'bolted' come to mind. The situation should never have come to what has happened.

I should add that where "indefinite leave to remain" is granted it is for the individual concerned and his immediate family, if married, it does not include siblings, cousins, aunts uncles or grandparents etc. Rita Does 'indefinite leave to remain" allow the individual to leave and r...

Re: Windrush Ooh Aah

I can only repeat what I have said earlier and that is the whole sorry saga of the Windrush people is one giant fiasco but at least an attempt is ...
