Re: recommendation of appliance engineer

Hi All,

Keith had a look but said it could not be repaired so I have fitted a new one.

Many thanks though for your advice.

Cheers,

Gary.

Hi folks,

My electric hob has decided to stop working, could anyone please recommend an engineer who may fix it for me?

Many thanks in advance.

Re: House Building and Contents Insurance

Been with Atlantic for 30 years, never claimed for the house but have had a couple of car claims, good service, I would recommend them.

Re: fridge freezer

It's a common fault with frost free fridge freezers for ice to build up around the motor and cause this, if you turn it off, pull it out and let the air in and leave it for 24 hours it should be OK.

Re: Roof Pump won't stop running

There will be a pressure tank on the roof, if it has a leak the pump will run continuously, you should however see water coming off the roof.

Re: Feral cats??

I agree something needs to be done but I couldn't see a cat hurt, it would have to be a humane action. I also have a problem with cats,3 of my neighbours have taken to feeding the strays. When I visited Cyprus in September there was cat faeces everywhere I lifted the manhole cover and scooped it all...

Re: More Requirements for Temporary Residence

Hi Wantoosoon, There are so many unknown details for me to answer you properly, are you young? do you waste money on unnecessary thinks like expensive cars, new phones, sky tv etc at 32 years old I was redundant and had no money, I printed 5000 leaflets on my dot matrix printer and posted them throu...

Re: More Requirements for Temporary Residence

It seems the whole system allows you to stay for up to 90 days in any 180 or to stop for over 90 days in one go and apply for temporary residence. Many people like me who have owned a house for 32 years in Cyprus have never stayed for a continuous 90 days so can't apply for residence but by travelin...

Re: Important: Receiving medicinal products from the UK in Cyprus?

Just a tip for anyone who is buying medication in the UK for postage to Cyprus you could try buying it in Ireland, they are doing a roaring trade in medication and as they are in the EU should be no problem.

Re: Businesses that don't accept cards

JB That is against the law. EU law states that you can not charge more or less dependant on the means of payment i.e. you can not charge more for say a card payment and if you discount for cash you are actively charging more for card payments, I don't agree with this law as I think it raises prices ...

Re: Businesses that don't accept cards

Sorry for any confusion, My business is in the UK that's why I was quoting sterling, I would expect as there is a monopoly in Cyprus then the charges would be higher as they only seem to have JCC. If in the UK you do not want to pay for the machine and other monthly charges there are a couple of new...

Re: Businesses that don't accept cards

I think the most likely reason for shops and restaurants not using card machines is cost, you have to pay a monthly charge for the machine, a further min charge for the months transactions , a charge per transaction and a percentage of the transaction. I pay £15 for the machine per month, min charge...

Re: Ben Fogle's Lost Worlds - Cyprus

I remember when they voted on the peace plan agreed by both sides governments, the Turkish Cypriots voted for it and the Greek Cypriots voted against it so it was dropped.
I do not see how WHL can have missed it.

Ditto, I have been with Atlantic for 30 years, had 2 claims they paid up no problem and I believe they are also the only company that lets you suspend your insurance if you leave the island for a few months as I do every year.

Re: BA Avios points.

If you take out a credit card that gives you Avios points or collect them another way you will be OK, you only loose points if you don't add or spend points for more than 3 years.

Re: Leaf Blower anomaly

I was looking at this just a couple of weeks ago, I have noticed lately that some manufacturers sell a common battery and the tools come without one, I suppose if you have 8 tools why have 8 batteries. The blower is well priced it's £98 in UK with free delivery from Amazon but Euro 120 from Amazon D...

Re: Heat Pump v Aircon

I have just been on a seminar about this exact subject about 2 weeks ago and the expert said they always change the radiators to high output ones as standard radiators will not have sufficient output but i don't know either way to be honest, I'm just a plumber. I do know that Max says that 50c to 60...
