Re: Would You Fly On a Pilotless Plane
This is a pointless argument - If you read the report on the hudson ditched aircraft you would see that the aircraft still had power and was able to both climb and turn before total failure and the river was the intended soft landing . And yes any pilot will fly the aircraft until the last minute -...

Re: Paphos car upholsterer
Thanks.
Would you happen to have a phone number?
Are these directions heading from Paphos or towards Paphos?
Lastly, do you remember what it cost?
Thanks again.

Re: Would You Fly On a Pilotless Plane
The Hudson river incident the plane still had power No, it did not. Performance on a modern jet aircraft is calculated so that in the event of loss of thrust on one engine (on a twinjet) the aircraft will still climb on one. The Airbus in question lost both engines due to multiple birdstrikes. I th...

Re: Cap St George resort - what's the story?
I remember when these could be had for CY£1 in many bars and restaurants in K.Paphos, LOL! With respect, I don't think that Cap St. George is the sort of place that is trying to push sub 3 Euro breakfasts. I for one think that it is nice to have somewhere different such as this to visit. I'm certai...

Re: Old RAF Planes
There is an ongoing court case regarding them. The legal owner has not paid parking fees for them for many years. There is also a third Shackleton on the south side of the airport with the wings detached, an ex AEW trainer aircraft. The owner of the aircraft was (I believe) Phoenix Aviation, a defun...

Re: Cyprus finally approves private number plates (CYWeekly)
The CAA in the UK allows personalised aircraft registrations, with a few limitations. I believe G-SEXY and others of a similar nature were disallowed. Don't believe it costs any extra either. But if governments can derive extra income from vanity registrations, why not? G-SEXY was an AA1 Lloyd. G-A...

Re: Where planes go to die.... Mail online
@Lloyd: One of your links mentions a Jet Provost parked at LCA. That was another frequent take-off from LTN in the 60's, as Hunting Aviation was also based there. I think the RAF used to use it as a jet trainer, before the Hawk was introduced? There is a Jet Provost (G-JETP) and a third Shackleton ...

Re: Cost of using electricity to heat a living room
Winter in Cyprus and heating? NOT cheap to use your AirCon in reverse mode! Your leccy bills will be sky HIGH! Some are actually more efficient (cheaper/less consumption) to run in heat mode than in cooling mode. I do agree the new inverter A/C units are much more cost effective to run, and are nea...
