Re: Ancient Millstones

So, it looks like that the millstone was designated either for the mill at Episkopi (Limassol) or Kolossi (Limassol) which were the main medieval sugar mills beside Kouklia. My knowledge is from this nice website: https://www.fergusmurraysculpture.com/cyprus/history-notes-12-pages/viii-sweet-salt-th...

Re: For Cheese lover - Swiss Appenzeller today at Lidl TOTK

I wonder where YOU buy Swiss cheeses which taste like they do in Switzerland. I often get them, believe it or not, from Migros, which does have some excellent cheeses. Any time someone visits us, they bring us some cheese. My grandkids have just visited us and brought some Etivaz, Valaisan raclette...

Re: Green points to open in coming months

One solution would be to buy a chaff-cutting machine and use the result in your own garden to improve the poor soil quality we have in Cyprus. But then of course it costs money to invest and electricity ( no problem if you produce your own with PV) and it is more healthy for your body than to sit in...

Re: For Cheese lover - Swiss Appenzeller today at Lidl TOTK

Having lived in CH for 35 years, I too was tempted by the Lidl Appenzeller but was disappointed when I tasted it. Unfortunately, it was not aged enough to develop that nutty/spicy/herby taste, so characteristic of the mature stuff, which I really loved. It says a lot if I tell you that half the pac...

Re: Tsada The Scenic Way

Your question about propery prices: the piece of land where the trees are (your pic 25, page 4/8) ca 3000 m2, I tried to sell in 2011. But even it was the financial crisis then, the owner asked 350.000 Euro which was too much for my German customer.

Re: Sea Wind Farms

The most important thing is that Wind turbines this size need a minimum wind of 6m/sec to produce at least something and that 24/7!! This condition we don't have in Cyprus! With an wind of 8-10m/s they would perform perfect but then we would have storm warnings... When the blades turn a bit it is no...

Finally also the Authorities wake up ? By the way the second largest dam in Cyprus is our Paphos Asprokremnos and not the Kalavasos dam mentioned in the article !!
My readings for the whole of Dec were only 22mm - exactly the same we had last night!!

Excellent blog Dominic from one of the nicest areas we have, close to Paphos town. I drove, coming from Armou at least 500 times parts of this tour. Unfortunately this area was used in the past a lot for dumping all kind of rubbish, also lorries from Paphos dipping whatever they wanted. The riverbed...

CM used a classic image to go with this story, which really sets the scene. :)

At least Paphos Press got the right image with the little white church...
