Re: SMS permission query
Well, I had understood that the main (sole) reason for these restrictions and prior permission is to keep as many people at home as possible for as long as possible. So when I have been going out to help a friend with chemo, I have done shopping, got cash, visited pharmacy, whatever necessary, all d...

Re: E-reader advice please
I second Trev's recommendation. Whichever model you get, ensure it can be read in bright sunshine. I have a basic one with no integral light which means the bedside light needs to be on, same as for a physical book, and this would lead to some grumpiness on the part of my late hubby if I read in bed...

Re: Paying for a Gesy prescription
Possibly due to the lack of profit for the pharmacist and the charges levied by the credit card machine company. And, yes, I collected some over the counter items for one friend and a Gesy prescription for another friend, and was asked for the prescription charge of one euro to be paid cash when I o...

Ooof! Well, that was a surprise. I started reading this thread without registering the date it was originally started, and came across a post from my late hubby! . That certainly woke me up!

It's really lovely to see mouflon leaping up near vertical crags in the Paphos forest. It counts as one of those special "oh wow" moments.

Re: Anastasiades extends Cyprus lockdown to end April
Yes Dee, it's true. I have had to go down to Paphos twice over the past few days to take a non driving friend to essential medical appointments. Each of the checkpoints on Mesoghi avenue had army personnel, some in addition to police, and some with no police. I was stopped at lunchtime on the way up...

Re: BAT working on Covid-19 vaccine using tobacco leaves
Considering that tobacco has for many years now been seen as harmful to health, it would be a rather strange twist in the tale of the human race if tobacco somehow saved the day!

Re: Police checks
I saw a statistical map (source unknown) on a Paphos based Facebook information site which showed the spread of the virus geographically. Nicosia had 9.7% - Limassol had 3.3% - Paphos had a massive 39.3% so a heavier crackdown in Paphos seems fully justified to me! I understand from various news re...

Re: Would you expect this building is in Cyprus?
Definitely not in keeping with its surroundings.
Maybe it is indeed a marvellous building with all sorts of modern equipment, but in my opinion it is seriously out of place there.
