Re: British expats in Cyprus given an extra year to apply for residence permits

Still waiting to hear how those of us who are planning on moving over say next year will be treated if there is no deal. I've looked at the non-EU residency and it doesn't seem to cover those of us who are retired from work but not of state pension age.

Re: IPTV Boxes

One thing is for certain, I don't think the Triotech box will meet my needs :)

We are over in Oct and so might go and have a chat with the guys at Computer SOS to see what options are available. Is there anyone else you would suggest having a word with?

Cheers

Re: IPTV Boxes

Thanks for the replies - some things to think about. Still not sure of the MAG route given my current box does exactly what I want and the interface is much better than what you get with a MAG box. At the end of the day I can use any service by inputting the portal address so for me its whether the ...

IPTV Boxes

Hi All, This is a question re IPTV hardware and not subscriptions (altho' you can PM me with suggestions :) ). I've noticed that the vast majority of you use MAG boxes to access your chosen TV services. Do I take it that there is not much call to use other hardware eg android boxes or is it just tha...

Re: Poppadoms

Made a rookie mistake when we first went there and ordered a mixed starter for 2, 3 curries and rice + Naan! Soon realised that this was enough for about 6 people and not just the 2 of us :) Now just tend to have a starter each and 1 or 2 half portions of curry.

That's what we are finding as well. Sometimes a few thousand Euros cheaper to buy new in Cyprus than the UK.

Re: Important info re Meu 1 Meu 3

I assume from this that if the UK crashes out without a deal, when I move over next year I will be applying as a 3rd Country National? Best start looking at what I need to do as only really looked at what I need for an MEU1.

Civil Service Pension in Cyprus?

This is a question for those who get their Civil Service Pension (PCSPS) paid directly into a bank account in Cyprus. I will be retiring next Aug and moving to Cyprus after 42 years in the UK Civil Service. One question I've not really been able to get a definitive answer on is whether the pension i...

Re: New road tax regime to come into force on July 15

Saw this elsewhere and wondered.....Does this mean that for new petrol cars bought in Cyprus there is no VAT or are they talking about the import tax? We are moving over next year and trying to decide whether to buy a new car in the UK (6 months before we come) and bring it over or wait till we get ...

When I looked into it a couple of months ago, there is no Dacia/Renault dealer on the island. They used to have a place at Mesogi but shut July last year.

Re: Extra 12 months to sort residency

So... is this - 12 months from 29 March if there is no deal? - 12 months from whenever an extension finishes (if there is an extension)? - 12 months from the end of any Transition period? Given our plan is to move to Cyprus in 2020 when my wife and I retire from work (can't move before then) it woul...

Many thanks for the replies. I suppose I'm less bothered about the warranty, its more about being able to get spare parts easily if need be.

Servicing a Dacia under Warranty?

I know the Dacia place on the Polis Road has been shut for a while but wondered if there is anywhere that services Dacia cars under warranty in Paphos (or wider)? I currently have a new Dacia Duster and am looking to retire to Cyprus next year so the car will still be under warranty when we come ove...

Re: Lightbulbs

Are most new light fittings in Cyprus Edison Screws (E27) or the smaller E14 screw size rather than bayonet (B22) fittings? Just wondering as I have a few Hue smart lightbulbs that I'll be bringing over and will likely need to get some adapters for some of them.

My wife uses it to rub on her back to relieve her occasional back pain. Is it possible to buy it over here or do I need to stock up when back in the UK?
