Re: Snake identification...

It was thinnish and when I picked it up in the pool net to deposit it over the wall, it curled up and raised its head. I almost had a heart attack. I didn’t get close enough to see the head shape which is why I wanted to post a picture.

Snake identification...

We have a snake in the back garden and would like some help identifying it.

How do I get my photo to appear on this forum? It is currently in the “Photos” album on my iPad.

Life Certificate.

We did ours last week, and signed by bank official.
Sent away on Monday.
Two years ago we had ours done at the Hellenic Bank, and they then told us it was not bank policy to do it anymore.

Tales from the Clinic ...

We had to go down to the clinic so that my darling wife could pick up the results of her blood test. It wasn’t too busy. The receptionist was masked and the three people waiting (all young Cypriot women) were masked. One of them pulled her mask down to speak and, within seconds, the others had follo...

Cyta ... hmm

We lost our internet connection on 23rd July and an engineer from Cyta arrived a day later and told us “It wasn’t working”. He then phoned and said the “underground team” would sort the problem out on the Saturday or the following Monday. On Monday nothing was working and I telephoned 132. I was tol...

Lidl W5 stuff

We have been very impressed with the W5 kitchen cleaner from Lidl. Has anyone used their general purpose cleaner and their dishwasher tablets? And can anyone recommend them?

Rat Problem

We caught a large rat in a trap in a kitchen drawer recently and I sent it to meet its maker. Problem solved, I thought. But our dog has been barking under some trees in the garden and I can see one or two rats there. My wife is not impressed, and our two cats are not very popular. I suspect we need...

Pillows ...

Having been let down AGAIN by an English company whose couriers have lost our order, and who are proving reluctant to refund our money, we are looking for some new pillows, and wondered whether anywhere in Paphos might be able to supply them. The problem in buying pillows is that they are sealed in ...

Diagnostic Centre, Paphos

My wife’s consultant sent her for a MRI scan earlier this year to the Diagnostic Centre in Paphos. She was very frightened and claustrophobic, and - when we went there a few months ago - she decided she could not have the scan. But, times pass, and she decided to have the scan before her meeting wit...

Poverty in Cyprus

I came across a Fb page yesterday which was looking for support for families (mainly in Paphos). I followed the thread backwards and read about the number of free meals this establishment had supplied - more than 12,000 - since the lockdown here. It was the sheer scale of the undertaking that stunne...

Things may be improving ... we ordered five items from Lakeland in the UK. They were dispatched on Thursday and arrived this morning, which rather surprised me.

Pairing Bluetooth 5 with Bluetooth 4

I could do with some help here. I have found some BT headphones (Sony) but they are BT 5, and my LG soundbar is BT 4. LG tell me they cannot confirm that their soundbar will pair with the headphones I want to buy. I have read that BT 5 is backwards compatible with BT 4.2, 4.1 and 4.0 but I don’t wan...

Re: Bluetooth headphones for TV

Some interesting pointers here, and thanks to all for your responses. Our television does have a headphone output but we are unable to get it to work with my rather ancient wired headphones. As we connect to our sound bar via Bluetooth from our phones and iPads, it seems sensible to go the bluetooth...

Bluetooth headphones for TV

Can anyone help with my search for Bluetooth headphones which I can pair with my sound bar? My wife often goes to bed before me, and I then watch films where the volume needs to be high enough to waken her. I have looked on Amazon and so many of the headphones cannot be delivered to Cyprus. I’m not ...

Re: Complacency setting in.

It’s undoubtedly getting worse. We drove past a popular café in Polis and it was absolutely crammed with people. Even more astonishing was to see a couple of policemen in uniform sitting at an inside table, and they were smoking cigarettes as well. When the virus reappears, I for one will be saddene...
