I have also had a very bad experience at Paphos General.
I think I'll cough up the cash and go private.

Re: Referral Letter by doctor

I see a Cardiologist at a private hospital in Paphos, and he treats me under the GESY system. I require an operation quite soon, and I can either have it done free at the General, or pay for it to be done at the private hospital. I believe "in patient" treatment at private hospitals will c...

Re: first experience visiting GESY doctor

I registered with a GP directly and unfortunately at the moment I have no access to web sites or links .. Being registered doesn't mean you have been enrolled in GESY. Once your application has been approved (you get an email) you see the doctor who follows a process whereby he gives you a code and...

Re: GESY - Not happy with Medication situation

I don't understand this situation, there are no more people than before needing medication, it's just that people are using private pharmacies rather than hospital pharmacies. There must some way of transferring medicines from one to the other.

Re: E-Mail confirmation Gesy

Incidentally, not all GP's and Consultants have signed up for GESY. Obviously all at the General have signed up, but there are still some private GP's and Consultants in the private hospitals.

Re: E-Mail confirmation Gesy

The only problem re Pharmacies is that not all are registered with GESY. So the prescription will only go to the registered ones and appear when you give them your details. I believe the majority of Paphos Pharmacies are now registered with GESY. Further to Trev's question of "registering"...

Re: E-Mail confirmation Gesy

I understand that it is the choice of the pharmacy as to whether to join the Gesy system, or not.. Hopefully in time all of them will join up.. I have also read that some Phamacies have a sign showing they are members of the system.. It interests me as to how the consultants at the General Hospital...

Re: E-Mail confirmation Gesy

Phil as you have used the system a few times, can you confirm that you DO NOT have to register with a particular Pharmacy.. Trev, you DO NOT have to register with a pharmacy. Your GP will enter your prescription on the GESY system, you can also have a paper copy if you wish. Any, I repeat, any Phar...

Re: E-Mail confirmation Gesy

There seems to be several different ways to register for GESY. I went to my chosen GP, with my MEU3, he did all the paperwork and informed me 2 or 3 days later, that I was registered. I didn't fill out any forms myself, or send or receive and emails. I've used the new system twice, so I know everyth...

Driving Licence over 70

I'm sure this subject has been discussed before, but I can't seem to find anything on the forum.
What is the procedure in Cyprus, for renewing a Cypriot driving licence when you reach the age of 70?

Re: first experience visiting GESY doctor

I collected my Gesy certificate this morning, so I am registered now.. i have no idea when i will need to see a GP though.. I usually just see 2 or 3 consultants at the General.. So I have yet to find out what the consultants do about giving you a prescription ??? I too, would be interested to find...

Yes, I have, but I can't see how bullying could effect the GESY system.

Re: first experience visiting GESY doctor

Gesy is in a mess - they sacked the chap in charge yesterday which may be a good thing as he sounds most unpleasant..! https://cyprus-mail.com/2019/06/05/chief-exec-of-gesy-body-fired-over-bullying-claims/ I am having trouble registering with my GP at the Evangelismos as the system doesn't recognis...

Re: New health service

Trev, your GP prints out your prescription, and you take it to the Pharmacist of your choice. At least, that's how it works at the Iasis Hospital But that is not what the Pharmacy that we usually use tells us. She says that the prescription is sent to her online and we go to collect it.. And we hav...

Re: New health service

I had an appointment with the Cardiologist at the Iasis this morning, but I had to see my GP at the Iasis first, for him to issue a referral notice. I also have an appointment with the chest specialist at the General next month. My GP has also issued a referral notice for me to see the chest special...

Re: New health service

The new system worked well for me this morning. Had an appointment with the Cardiologist at 9am, so went to my GP first for a referral note.(£6). Also obtained a note from my GP for repeat prescriptions, and took it to my usual Pharmacist. Apparently you can use any Pharmacy displaying the GESY sign.

Re: GESY Pharmacists

Mrbloddy, yes I would rather use my usual Pharmacy, but the last time I asked, I was told that most of the private pharmacies don't have the correct software for the new system. All very confusing.
