Re: Can things get worse?

As the crows come home to roost, we can but hope that the less enlightened finally wake up to the implications of the Brexit they voted for. It is funny reading some of the comments from two or three years' ago. 2017 Securing a free trade deal with the European Union should be “one of the easiest i...

Re: Genealogy

I would say that the Mormon site - like familysearch.org is very useful. If you use it wisely, it is free. You can go quite a long way on it if your ancestors were Church of England, and in the right Parish. Some records go back to the mid 1500s. But there is no substitute to seeing the original doc...

When I went there there were no roads closed (except for the castle area itself, where the cars were).
I think closures were due to the bike race or other things going on elsewhere along the harbour road, and maybe earlier on.

Re: Can things get worse?

Can things get worse? Well, the UK was last in Eurovision contest. :( :( :( How did I miss that?! I did a google search on Boris Johnson / May / who is worse and I got this article, dated yesterday, - interesting - in The Spectator. " Cometh the hour: Boris Johnson may be the Tories' best hope...

Re: Classic Car Show

Agree. Never seen so many people at this event. I think they did some advertising at hotels - brought in some extra visitors. Very busy! And add to that the bike race further round - a really enjoyable morning! I should also add that the Gospel Choir concert at the Castle yesterday evening was also ...

Understand that he fell down, badly injured his arm, and was unable to work. Without him - well - They decided to close. I understand his father is fine - used to work in the kitchens. I loved Chris's one liners - "excellent choice, excellent choice".... "Don't mention Brexit"......

I like number one myself. Please be advised there are one or two swear words in the below link. Apostolou Pavlou Ave reopened this evening

Just to let people know - way after schedule - they reopened the road between the Mall and the harbour this evening about 1930.
St Paul's/ Apostolou Pavlou Ave - the section between the harbour and the King's Avenue Mall. Should make life easier for many.

Re: Request please for tongue-twisters and short jokes

A better example. I just remembered one my mother taught me in my childhood - "One, two, three, four, five. Once i caught a fish alive..." This is not bad. Singing, I am told, aides the memory. Probably it is a nursery rhyme - no problem. Obviously I could find things on the internet, but ...

Request please for tongue-twisters and short jokes

I have been impressed with some of the lovely stories and jokes on this site. I wondered if people could help me accumulate some tongue-twisters and short jokes useful for teaching English. To put this request into context, I am currently for my sins helping out (voluntarily) in a Summer School in e...

Yes indeed, although the restriction is only on how many you want to BUY :-) Trev.. Lidl - their policy did work in my case. On my second visit I remembered to take a large reuseable Sainsbury's bag I had packed in my suitcase, mainly as a protective layer! It came in useful. It is a pity all the C...

Re: Larnaca airport to paphos at night

Dear Andrada, not easy. I would suggest maybe writing to travelexpress.com.cy. They may have other people in a similar position, and offer you a ride. They may charge you around 30 euros - if they offer you a place. They actually changed the time of one of their minibuses for me. Kapnos airport shut...
