Re: Why do people poison lay poison ?

This is one aspect of living in Cyprus which hasn't changed. I will never understand or condone the mentality of people who do this. So sorry that you have lost your pet.

Re: Notification when making appointment of which vaccine will be used

What Cyprus really needs is more vaccine.. I have seen on 'In Cyprus' , that the EU is actively considering buying the Russian Sputnik5 vaccine. This is supposed to be very effective and having more manufacturing facilities, is more able to cope with large orders. Some EU countries have already inde...

Re: The world has well and truly gone nuts...

Like JB , I have no idea about what a tranny is. Partly because I'm just not interested. People must have too much time on their hands to be worrying about their gender. There are more important and interesting things to do to occupy my time. I have also heard the term ' nine bob note'. Used to desc...

Re: Vaccinations available for people aged 79 and over from Tuesday 9 February

Well its only the 10th March today. So I wonder if once this current batch of Astra Zenacca is finished there will be further deliveries of vaccine before the 1st March, which is several weeks ahead? Last night I saw on IN Cyprus that the Cypriot Union Of Pensioners are saying that in Greece the AZ ...

Re: The world has well and truly gone nuts...

I feel the same as mouse does. Just let them get on with it, but I don't like extra publicity given to these people. They are people just as heterosexual people are. Live and let live, I say. Why is it necessary to publicise breast feeding practices. Probably one thing that males can't do naturally....

Re: Vaccinations available for people aged 79 and over from Tuesday 9 February

It's all a bit confusing. It was supposed to be 75-79 years old, at least initially. But its changed to over 79 this week. At the same time both health professionals and people from vulnerable groups are both going ahead. Can't help wondering if theres a reason why vaccine isn't really going to many...

Re: 2nd rate workmanship

Thats true, Trev. I drove through Stroumbi twice recently en route to Droushia and agree with you.. The red tiled crossings there seem to be as good as ever. Whereas the slabs(or tiles) used on the harbour bound road just look a mess and are horrible to drive over. I hope that the Mayor will notice ...

Re: Driving range

I've only had one speeding fine in my time in Cyprus, and that was for exceeding what was then a speed limit of 30mph on an empty road, on the down hill part of the Polis Rd, just below the Trimithousa crossroads. ( long before the present 'basket' roundabout was dreamt up). I 've had the occasional...

Re: Driving range

Trouble is that there are a number of very poor families and individuals now, some of whom probably simply couldn't afford to pay even a €300 fine. This equally applies to many businesses, for whom the fines can be much larger. As some one has said, even if these offenders are taken to court it woul...

Re: 2nd rate workmanship

That road to the harbour takes a lot of traffic, its not a good place to put paving. A return to a more durable road surface is clearly needed. Tarmac might be the best solution. If they choose to re-tile the same stretch of road, it could be closed for a much longer period....

Re: Visiting malls

This idea that only 2 people can meet outside in the open air seems even more dotty now, when the Mall is open, plus cinemas and other indoor places like museums and schools which are all indoor venues.. There are many of us who belong to walking groups who can easily distance themselves in the grea...

Brengreen, I know what you mean about booking flights that later get cancelled by the airline. Last year I got fed up with booking flights as all of mine subsequently were cancelled by EasyJet. So, I have remained in Paphos now for just over a year. I have booked once again with EJ to Bristol at the...

Re: Profit-making EAC told to reduce electricity bills

Yes, its OK for you Max. But your bill is nothing like mine, either when I had a 3kw photo voltaic system, or now when I don't. You must be a big producer of alternative energy. If I had a bill like yours I would hardly be complaining!

Re: Profit-making EAC told to reduce electricity bills

I think, as a result of reading or (trying to understand) how are all the additional charges above the actual cost of the no of units of electricity which have been consumed can be justified. All I see is that EAC are milking the consumer for as much money as possible. Why should we have to pay a pr...

Re: Visiting malls

Nothing has been publicised about any need for the public to get a rapid antigen test. The Govt emphasis is on all those employees who will be returning to work tomorrow (8 Feb). Has your wife got hold of a rumour, which may or may not be true? Personally, I will steer clear of the Mall for a while,...

Re: New street lights... perfect

In fact some new cars and probably some older ones too which have been modified have over bright LED lights. Plus some cars appear to have had extra front lights fitted , The effect of so much light can dazzle the drivers of cars coming from the other direction. Particularly if the driver of such a ...

Re: Profit-making EAC told to reduce electricity bills

Yes, it wouldn't be easy to set up in competition to EAC. Yet, when the country was struggling post the explosion and the EU sent a term of experts to evaluate all things financial here, one of their suggestions was to open up the electricity supply system on island,to other companies so there would...
