Re: Dark side of the Med

As Cyprus is short of water (Varies villages outside Limassol, the water is cut off from 7pm till morning supposedly to conserve water) why hasn't the Cypriot government built a water decsalination plant like the one shown in Israel? Yes I know it will have cost a lot of money but I am sure EU and o...

Re: Dark side of the Med

The impression I got (and members of my family) that watched it saw it as an Island that refuses to move forward and is happy to live in the 20th century and that most of the Cypriots are saying "Oh woe is me/us, look what happened in 74" They seem to forget that that is was 44 years ago a...

Re: Drowning in plastic

Unfortunately the Cypriot village I live in used to have green bins (actually blue in colour for some reason!) to place finished with cans and plastic, brown bins for paper/cardboard and a white bin for glass. It took a while to be well used and were emptied once a week, however they became very wel...

Re: UK Passports valid for more than 6 months to travel?

Tyelaw, Project Fear is been negotiated but it doesn't mean it will or wont happen - Why should anyone think that your so called negotiations will be successful? Can you honestly say that you think that the UK government actually know what they are doing and they are all singing from the same song s...

The advert works because people are talking about it. My other half watched an advert the other day and said "That's a nice advert", I replied "Was it what was it advertising?" No idea she replies, so the company wasted many thousands of pounds making it! Go Compare is a most ann...

So (excuse my lack of education, thought playing sport was more important!), what do these words from the song mean? 1. Scaramouch 2. Fandango 3. Gallileo and Gallileo Figaro 4. Bismillah 5. Beelzebud Full words from the song are - Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide N...

HIC, when was the last time you saw the Police going round nicking people (unless it was a hate crime), it seems most of the coppers you do see have fitness levels issues anyway!

Re: European Obestity Levels

No Mr Devil, the greater majority of people can if they so wish control their weight especially in Europe. Mr. Average as a guideline should have an intake of around 2500 calories (Mrs. average is around 2000 calories) so if you take more and you do not use them (ie excerise) you will gain weight. h...

European Obestity Levels

A UN report shows that 2 out of 3 of Europeans are overweight and one in 4 of us are obese, and that is due to lack of excerise, poor diet and heavy drinking! The European average of obesity is 23% with the UK coming 3rd with 27.8% and Cyprus (Mid table at 21.8%), (Top was Turkey at 31.1% and bottom...

Adrian Chiles - Drinkers Like Me TV Program

Have just watched Adrian Chiles Drinkers Like Me which is on BBC iPlayer at present, having been aired on BBC2 on August 27th 2018. Basically he was drinking (on his own admission at least 100 units of alcohol per week) rather than the guidelines issued by the NHS (https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/alcoh...

End of Winter/Summer time switch?

The EU is set to end the practice of switching between summer and winter time after a survey found most EU citizens are against it. More than 80 per cent of EU citizens wanted to abolish the bi-annual switch currently required by law, president Jean-Claude Juncker said on German television. Juncker ...

Re: Traffic Matters

IF you accept the info from The Car Expert, the way I understand it is that your speedo reading should always be higher than you are actually travelling at i.e. the speedo shows 50mph but your real speed is 40mph nut never the other way round.
