Agree with you WHL in what you said about the general grasp of geography in the USA! I used to have in laws living in California. Even meeting some of their friends, it quickly became apparent that many of them knew very little about the rest of the world. Their horizons seemed to be Washington or ...

Lloyd they are already investigating 2000 companies who flouted the rules so not quite true. For each monthly period, you had to qualify or you were not legally able to claim. It was very specific so if you claimed the first period, you could not necessarily claim the second or third. Because they ...

If I was the king of Cyprus incoming passengers would have to quarantine and get electronic tags to make sure they do. That would also help the hospitality industry as a collateral benefit. Thank God, Cyprus doesn't have a King, but I agree with the rest of your post. Might be a damn sight better t...

Yes, the lady I mentioned earlier who owns a small, but busy hairdressing salon. Applied initially for the lock down pay, but nothing happened. She did try to visit the social office, but the queues were long and staff not so helpful. Since then As Thursday is her day off, she always has a lot of o...

WHL, that depends on the airline. I had three flights cancelled by Easy Jet, March.April, July. But in each case they offered a choice of free rebooking of flight, or a voucher for another flight, or a cash refund. And they delivered.... So you got your money back or a voucher, big deal how many ac...

On a side note, years ago when we first arrived we were recommended a GP, but we were warned he was a bit eccentric , turned up at his clinic, in the drive was an old beat up car, my first thoughts were he cant be that good , if he cant aford a decent car, any way we went in, the waiting room was ch...

Don't get sucked in, with the airlines cheap flight offers, they know flights that they are advertising, have no hope of taking off the ground, but they need your cash to keep their airlines afloat.

Re: Islandwide taxi strike planned for Tuesday

To be eligible for lockdown compensation as a self employed person, you have to prove what your income was for the same period last year. This is probably the problem with the taxi drivers. I am so glad if this is the case. they refuse to use meters and charge what they like, with no record on the ...

I have always found that the Cypriot Police speak very good English and are very polite. Alan They are a reflection of the society they represent, you get polite ones, grumpy ones, well spoken ones, rude ones, the only thing ive learned in all the years ive been here is, if you are polite to them t...
