Re: Problems with AirBNB

RattyPatty - your thoughts about the electricity cupboard have given me a warm fuzzy feeling which can only be cured by a spell of sleep walking 😁 When I do it always seems that bumping into the electricity cupboard is what wakes me up... Apart from these problems, I was going to suggest to the owne...

Re: Problems with AirBNB

Some really good advice coming out of this thread. Thank you. I wish we were just renting so that we could just walk away from it all, particularly as any problems seem to come my way to sort out, despite us only being here part of the year. The great shame in all of this is that until this all kick...

Re: Problems with AirBNB

Thanks for the advice so far. We don't have Title Deeds yet so we have no Constitution and just a small and informal committee that runs things and is very reliant on the goodwill of the owners to get things done. Hopefully Deeds are not too far away when formalising things may help. Re his tax stat...

Problems with AirBNB

We have a problem in our small residential complex that we suspect happens quite a lot elsewhere, and any advice would be appreciated. I have searched the forum but can't find any specific threads on the topic. For a while now, the owners of one of the apartments has let their apartment out on AirBN...

One of our sons-in-law is a photographer and, in 2014, he worked for Reuters and went into the Green Line area on an assignment:

Re: Real time lightening map..

We were parked above Kourion yesterday, just before 1300, and our car was hit by a lightning strike. Very loud bang and blue flash followed by smoke coming through the dashboard! It was raining so hard that we just opened the doors ready to jump out if the car burst into flames, but luckily it did n...

Trackables

We are off to Australia and New Zealand in 4 weeks and have collected a handful of trackables from the Anogyra TB Hotel to take with us. If anyone has any more, that have an urge to go on a long haul trip, please PM us.

Re: Riccos Beach

We often stop at Ricco's for a drink when walking along the coast. About a year ago I felt something brushing against my legs, and then settled down against my feet, and just assumed it was a cat. Mrs QuarterPint then started scrabbling for her camera and gesticulating towards whatever it was under ...

Re: Taxi prices from PFO

Al, we have used Stevie's Taxi's for airport transfers for a number of years now, and have just booked an airport pickup for next Monday evening for €27 to Universal, which is the same as the last two or three times we have used them. Always found them to be very reliable. No idea how their prices s...

Squamous Cell Carcinoma

As a follow-up to my earlier post in the Geocaching Section of the forum, about a lump on my arm, I have just made the following post which I have repeated here as it may be of interest to others who do not follow the Geocaching Section. "I was right and the lump on my arm was a form of skin ca...

Skin Cancer - My "New item of Equipment"

Originally, I posted this as a follow-up to my original "New item of Equipment" post but, given the seriousness of skin cancer, I have decided to make a separate post of it so that the problems I had have more visibility: Skin Cancer - My "New item of Equipment" Post by D&PG ...

Skin Cancer - My "New item of Equipment"

As a follow-up to my earlier post, I was right and the lump on my arm was a form of skin cancer after all - Squamous Cell Carcinoma . Having followed my GP's advice about getting the splinter out of my arm, nothing happened other than the lump started to look more than a little alarming. The best wa...

Thanks ast. I have just taken a look and now just have to persuade my wife that buying it is essential! Having seen the price for a German edition, I wish I had a copy or three.

Since my last post I have Google'd the book and it was published in 1955, and I now know the name of the author. All I have to do now is find a copy!

Re: Book: The Olive Tree

When I was a child living outside Nicosia; it was in the 50's and I think I must have been 5 or 6, I can remember being given a book for "Being the most helpful boy in the class", and I can recall it was "How many miles to Cyprus" and i was given it by the wife of the then Govern...

New item of Equipment

My list of come-in-handy equipment continues to grow and a small pot of Magnesium Sulfate paste is the latest addition. I was always taught that the correct spelling is Sulphate but who am I to argue with Boots the Chemist. For about a month before we came home from Cyprus a few weeks ago, I have ha...

Geocaching - Back in the UK

Been back in the UK for just over a week now and I am still shivering and, needless to say, suffering from the obligatory post-flight cold! Literally hundreds of caches within a 5 miles radius of where we live but, having started to look at them, we are are more than a bit disappointed by many of th...
