Trev,
I have just had two inflamed and infected toe nails dealt with by a Chiropodist here. Is your daughter able to go to a private chiropodist, or is she waiting to see one on the NHS?
My toes were so painful, that I rang several private ones and got, and paid for an immediate appointment.

Re: Two Years of GESY
Hi Jeba In answer to your queries. I have separate private health insurance which also covers me when I'm away in UK. So far I've had what treatment I needed here covered by Gesy. Gesy only covers one check up with a dentist per year. So if you need dental implants you would need to pay the dentist ...

Re: Proof Of Vaccination
Can those of us in Cyprus who have had both 'jabs' now do anything similar in order to prove that we are fully vaccinated? Alternatively, does anyone know how the EU proof of vaccination app is progressing?

Re: Two Years of GESY
I must agree with your post, Trev. Like you I seem to have had more wrong with me than previously. Maybe its something to do with anno dominii. But with a very good P.D. and access to both specialists and scans all has been sorted. Yes, prescription medicines are in general much more expensive than ...

Re: Holiday 'police' knocking on your door:
Firefly, I sympathise with you. It seems very hard that Govt try to force people to not go abroad for their holiday. Particularly as the UK has been having some lousy weather recently. I am hoping to return to the UK from Paphos, next month. It's been well nigh impossible for us to go anywhere as we...

AST, thanks for your comment. I didn't know about the shortage of yeast!!
WHL, so why do you need to comment? Judging by the shortages here , I'm not the only one who is missing these products ?

Re: Redcurrant Jelly and Mint Jelly
HIC, Yes true about having to think about declaring certain goods on our return to Cyprus from the UK. But I hope that won't also include any UK foods we may have purchased while in the UK, such as Bovril, Marmite, Redcurrant jelly and so on!! But we may also be able to buy some things in the UK dut...

Re: Redcurrant Jelly and Mint Jelly
Unfortunately, since Brexit, the whole business of importing anything from the UK has become much more complicated. Thus supermarkets orders for goods from the UK are taking far longer to materialise. Thus they are running out of the British foods that we are used to having, I spoke to the manager a...

Re: Holiday 'police' knocking on your door:
The whole thing sounds a mess and very difficult to police effectively, I am supposed to be returning to the UK at the end of next month, just hope that the UK gets its act together and stops this heavy handed treatment of its citizens who dare to go abroad for their first holiday for over a year......

Re: At what elevation to expect snow / frost
Glad that you are healthy! But with your concerns about emergency healthcare in Cyprus, perhaps you should look at plots in villages much closer to Paphos? Kili and Tsada are two villages, both about 2000mtrs above sea level. Travelling time into,Paphos from either is about 12 mins.

Re: At what elevation to expect snow / frost
This is Cyprus. Paramedic's are highly trained and they have both the drugs and necessary equipment onboard the ambulance. They can also communicate with the hospital.
Do you have paramedics in Germany? They are used in the UK and are capable of urgent lifesaving treatment.

Re: At what elevation to expect snow / frost
Jeba, the private ambulance has several payment schemes, annual, , 6mths, etc. when you join, they usually visit you at home and take all your health particulars and answer any questions. They will also have your address and exact GPS location. If you call them out, they will come straight to your h...

Re: Emba to Tremithousa
I watched this video, but even though I know the roads around here pretty well and often drive this way, your chosen route utterly confused me! Certainly not one of the routes which I have used to get from Chloraka, via Lempa, Emba, Tala and then Trimithousa... Anyway, the photography was good. Than...

Re: At what elevation to expect snow / frost
No, Trev is right. Here in Cyprus. You have 2 options. If the patient is reasonably mobile, put them in the back of a car and drive directly to your chosen hospital. Bear in mind that the General Hosp is supposed to have the best ICU facility. Or summon an ambulance either state owned or private, if ...

Re: Eurovision Song Contest
I agree with you WHL. Much prefer Vicky Leandros's song which is tuneful and romantic. Watching El Diablo its not the type of song which I enjoy. Though no doubt it is modern! All the singer's cavorting and flimsy clothing may be sexy but it does nothing for that woman. I won't be watching the show....

Re: Coastal Paphos aims to become island’s first Covid-free district
Yes, that's certainly good news for Paphos! Paphos is much smaller than most of the other towns and has a much smaller population. Maybe its more isolated position being only easily accessible from Limassol must help. (though from the figures published daily on In Cyprus, Limassol still has a higher...

Re: At what elevation to expect snow / frost
No one has mentioned this. One reason why many people tend to live within fairly easy reach of Paphos may be due to health reasons. Accident or sudden onset of illness can happen to anyone particularly as one gets older. I know of a couple of people who lived out in the villages between Paphos and P...

Re: French Rafale fighter jets to fly over Cyprus airspace as part of air exercise
Yes, I heard a couple of fighters come close to Chloraka about 5pm. But they were flying over the sea. This apparently was right at the end of an exercise with visiting French aircraft co operating with the National Guard. The French aircraft carrier has been anchored off Limassol,. Apparently the e...

Re: At what elevation to expect snow / frost
I've lived near Paphos for over 20 yrs now. For much of that time I lived at Kamares, which is built on a series of quite steep hills. In that time we only had a snow fall twice, and then only about 2". Occasionally, Cyprus does have a very cold winter, ,but usually snow and ice is very rare, u...
