Not really, no. People know what c**p means. 'Nonsense' would have been better.
You don't need to suffer from broadsheet snobbery to recognise how bad the Daily Express is these days. Back in the days of Peter Tory it was a much better paper. These days it is just awful.

Re: Car hire Enquiry
One time we were renting we managed to lose the front number plate. We couldn't understand why people were letting us out of side roads all of a sudden.

Re: POUND DOING WELL
They aren't being unreasonable. The UK are the ones who want to leave. The UK just want to cherry pick the best bits. If everybody did the same there would be no EU. Either the UK are in or they are out. Expecting special conditions for stuff like financial services is just trying to have your cake ...

Nicosia is a great place to visit, as is London. All depends on where you go.

Re: POUND DOING WELL
This is the Politics for Moderates section, so please tone down the rhetoric. And if you have to resort to the Daily Express for your sources you've kind of lost the argument already.

Re: POUND DOING WELL
Nonsense. The UK is behaving like a partner who wants to see other people because they need more space, but still expects three square meals a day and a back rub whenever they want.

Re: polemi web cam 1.50pm today
There is a link at the top of every page.
Al, I need to make a more robust stand for the camera. At the moment, it relies on it's own hinge, which can't handle Cypriot temperature changes very well. I want to make a wooden framework to steady it.

The picture is on the webcam page, where it usually is. The camera had got nudged by a ladder. It is now back where it should be, albeit slightly crooked.

Paphos Caving
A few months ago we read a report in the papers about an interesting cave that lurked within Paphos itself, behind an old church. After a bit of investigation I found it, and did a bit of spelunking.

Re: Hot Water Costs with no Solar
I connected the dishwasher with the hot water pipe instead of the cold one in order to get pre-heated water with the result that a circle of the dishwasher is not using the normal 2.5 kw when connected with cold water as the coil will be heating only for a view minutes to reach the right temperatur...

Re: Political Correctness Gorn Mad
No idea Al. At a guess I would say the clip was put up by BBC.COM, not BBC.CO.UK.
BBC.COM can't be shown in the UK, as they have adverts.
Something like that, anyway.

Well,it's as off-topic as the other posts, so no more and no less acceptable.
Anyway, this thread is now called Political Correctness Gorn Mad
The original thread still exists, I have just stripped all the OT stuff from it.
Now everybody is happy. Woo hoo!

Re: A cure for barking dogs ?
How do your comments differ, Firefly? The opening question was offering a solution to barking dogs. The thread has meandered somewhat since then, but that's what sometimes happens. Besides, if it hadn't, Mr Blobby's initial solution would have received far less coverage. The easiest way to get a thr...

Re: A cure for barking dogs ?
But that just falls into the trap. The show was satirising racism. It was using humour to ridicule it. It is a very powerful weapon. A similar thing happen to The Young Ones, written by Ben Elton, who at the time was as PC as you could get. This clip is clearly ridiculing racism, yet it is has been ...

Re: A cure for barking dogs ?
Alf Garnett was always meant to be taken ironically. Warren Mitchell was very left wing. His character satirised racists. Unfortunately, a lot of racists didn't understand the concept of duality of meaning, and took his views at face value. Al Murray, the Pub Landlord, had the same problem. A chunk ...
