Re: Theresa May announcement
Corbyn, being unelectable, would be as well opposing, as he won't lose more members than he already has... May is showing, yet again, that she will swing wth the wind... I don't see that as strong, she should have foreseen and decided previously... now she comes across as a ditherer... which I think...

Re: May to seek snap election for 8 June - bbc
I don't think many seriously think they can stop Brexit, but it is entirely correct if some feel they want an elected member representing them to ensure that Brexit is not abused and delivered under just any terms. As to why Tim Farron deserves a boot, I don't know.... Are politicians in opposition ...

Re: Theresa May announcement
It is very hypocritical of her, when a month ago she said she would not call a GE this year to concentrate on Brexit... Then she condemned the SNP call for a referendum, as no time to distract from brexit with that.... Now she calls a general election.... She has shown herself to be short on resolve...

Re: Open Message to all forum members
Whilst I question the need for Geoff to make a public statement about his resignation from the Paphos Forums, I also find it quite amazing that somebody who has only made two posts on this forum feels they have the right to castigate Geoff in the way that they have. This forum has been a breath of ...

Re: What will Brexit mean for British expats? The Telegraph
I'd be VERY surprised if ANY Brits bought in Europe at the moment, other than distressed or bargain sales.... We have seen punitive measures in recent years in Spain and France.... who knows what's to come? The Stats kindly posted earlier by Happy in Cyprus seem to suggest otherwise; plenty of Brit...

Re: Would Trump be justified to nuke N.Korea?
Geoff, to answer your question - NO. I'm not saying there would never be a need for a military option, but that is far removed from starting a nuclear war. A nuclear attack would kill hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, including women and children, and could easily precipitate retaliatory...

Re: What is classed as a chronic illness in Cyprus
I have no idea why some countries may call any morbidity chronic or not... I would classify chronic, normally, as life changing and potentially dangerous.... such as heart disease, COPD, Diabetes and more... thats what the NHS do. I would imagine Cyprus's classification is more related to finance. i...

Re: What is classed as a chronic illness in Cyprus
Having a little knowledge of this.... Type 1 is the testing regime/insulin injection/pump version that can be very serious, often starting at birth or young age. 10% or less of Diabtics have Type 1. Type 2 most often occurs in adulthood and is much more prominent now than ever, mainly due to lifesty...

Re: Brexit poll: More than a quarter of remain voters in North Lincolnshire now want to leave the EU
Another Poll - this one across the Midlands with a decent sized poll.... Just shows that the country is as mixed up now as ever on this problem.... (albeit this was from December - so pre A50) So, either May does more to reassure people on where it's all going ..... Why have Express & Star reade...

Re: British Pound slowly strengthening
Well the prophets of doom can huff and puff and say things are not as good as hoped etc etc. The fact is that the £ now buys you more € since Article 50 was triggered. I hoped this good news would be welcomed on this forum. I welcome it even if some others don't! Geoff. I think most would welcome a...

Re: Arguments between various EU countries
Agreed, Individual citizens Bank accounts had money taken out of them.Trev. Explained by jeba. Citizens accounts in banks not subject to bankruptcy were unaffected. We were with Hellenic and didn't lose a penny. Correct me if I'm wrong, but only people with more than €100k in BoC were affected? And...
