Re: Solar fairy lights
It looks as if I have bought a cheap set. Opened them up , whereas on some there is a battery compartment this unit had six screws holding the whole thing together and the battery was glued in and soldered terminals so not meant to be readily replaced. The inside was immaculate , unfortunately I do ...

Solar fairy lights
I am not having much success with solar fairy lights on my balcony , yes I know some people think they are naff but they do give the impression that some one is at home. The latest ones I put up in May and have failed although the solar sensor is still flashing at night. This is a string of 200 and ...

Re: Fresh Barracuda today before the busy weekend... (pics)
I do envy you , barracuda is my favourite fish , used to catch it when I lived in West Africa , bringing it on board on a small boat was always a risk as the larger ones would probably remove a limb. The flesh is so dense it's almost like eating meat. Do you know if it is readily available is Cyprus...

Re: Erdogan closing net on Turkish Cypriots
To my mind the worst thing religion did was to hold back science for hundreds of years because it did not fit the dogma that the world was completed in seven days.

Re: UK interest rates.
I notice currency rates have moved up this morning , now 1.1212 with Currency fair . It seems we are due an interest rate rise today and theoretically it should improve the strength of the pound but as already mentioned it may already be built in. I am waiting for the decision today before I transfe...

Re: Wine Glasses in hand luggage
Some years ago I brought out some crystal candlesticks to Cyprus in my hand luggage. My baggage after being xrayed was then checked , apparently because there is lead in crystal the xray came out black . No problem it was allowed through but it caused some confusion .

They have to level the sea first , that is going to be the major problem.

Re: The Paphos Marina saga continues ...!!
I would have thought they could build a major part of the marina from the sea as it basically consists of large lumps of rock.

Re: How can we watch the F1?
If you did not watch it you did not miss much , bit of a procession , like Monaco . Why can't formula 1 give us more racing tracks , but in the end like a lot of sports now it's all about money. It's getting to the point where the tyre changes are more exciting than the race.

Re: Do you drink Keo
I saw a very unusual site in the Mill pub in Peyia some years ago. A man was drinking a bottled Keo and produced a swizzle stick and used it in is glass of beer to reduce the bubbles , a very expensive silver one I should add. You probably have to be a certain age to know what a swizzle stick is. Te...
