Re: Shoe Repairs
There are a few tucked away in the side streets of the Old Town, in close proximity to the Mosque. Have a wander around..
I had a really professional clean and polish of my ECCO casuals in one of them (while waiting) for the princely sum of one Old Holborn roll-up!

Re: Wooden Boards or Plates?
Ceramic plates / dishes for me, too. In UK, some councils are banning the use of wooden platters to serve hot meals in restaurants. I don't think this is HMG UK-wide legislation as yet, but left to the H&S / Food Standards departments of local councils to decide upon. Certainly in the case of Lu...

Re: Advise please
Now THAT sounds like an excellent plan, Zak! But just one thought- what happens to your UK residence whilst you away in Cyprus for 12 months? And would you be able to return to it, if after 12 months you decide life in Cyprus isn't for you? Think long and hard before burning your bridges behind you,...

Re: CAR PARKING ON MESOGI(POLIS)ROAD
Lloyd- the sign at the entry to this Mandria car park clearly shows that twin rear axle HGVs are prohibited. I don't think the blue Bedford TK truck shown in your photo quite matches that description, as it only has a single rear axle. Making it just a larger version of a single cab Toyota pick-up.....

Re: Advise please
Perhaps it might be worth you casting your 2 Bed rental search a little further out into surrounding locations around Paphos, but further back off the tourist track? Like Mandria, Timi, Anarita, Geroskipou, Chlorakas, Emba, Lemba, Kissonerga- all of which have nice sea views, shops, bars and restaur...

Re: Ingredients for Chinese food
Thanks for the EFR advice, Shane and Dom! Dom: when you say start by frying an egg in the saucepan, do you use oil, butter, or lard for this? And in what quantity, please? Also, you say it's best to allow the rice to stand for 24 hours before the frying stage. Do you mean AFTER it's been boiled? Is ...

Re: Problems with AirBNB
I've always been given to understand that where a person has a long-term rental contract with the property owner, it is illegal for that tenant to sub-let it. EXCEPT for family members... I used to take advantage of such a deal, and the tenants (back in UK on 3 month's business) always reminded me t...

But Ronk, let us not forget that 6 months ago, Tesco salted / unsalted British butter was £0-85 per 250g block. That's one hell of a price hike to the £1-60 it costs now in such a short period...

But tbh, these days, I tend to grab the Tesco 4 x 440ml cans of 5% Apple Cider. Great value at £2-20 (around 71p a pint!) and a very nice refreshing flavour from the fridge!

Re: Petrol or Diesel.Whats your choice?
Interesting read, Shane- thanks! I've often wondered why Mazda didn't continue with their brilliant Rotary Engine concept... Imagine if they did that next year, with a small range of 5 door family hatchbacks / SUVs, or a sexy 2 door sports car based on the MX5 model? With rotary petrol or diesel / t...
