Re: TV - Would upgrading internet package help?

We might try lowering the number a bit over a few nights, see how low we can set it without losing quality, but the ability to have uninterrupted viewing is more important to us.

Re: Mykonos

Thanks for that info HIC, I never begrudge paying a bit more for comfort and good quality especially when it comes to shoes, chairs and beds, I can always be more careful in other areas to balance the budget if needed.

I feel a shopping trip coming on!

Re: TV - Would upgrading internet package help?

Hudswell,

Showed my OH your link and on checking the buffer was set to zero so he increased that. Have viewed both box sets and tv all evening without one problem, even HD channels which were previously unwatchable.

Based on tonight’s viewing I think you might have solved our problem.

Thank you 😊

Re: Mykonos

I remember years ago having a pair of shoes made by an old guy in Limassol somewhere near the castle, most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had, nearly broke my heart when I had to throw them out. Must give this new place a visit, difficult finding comfy but stylish shoes when you have bunions!!! Thanks ...

Re: TV - Would upgrading internet package help?

Thanks for all suggestions. We are currently using cable between the router and tv. Cyta have carried out speed tests on our outside line and confirm it is working ok but have changed our router in case that was the problem. Our system provider (in Limassol) says there is nothing wrong on his side. ...

TV - Would upgrading internet package help?

Having problems every night with pic freezing. We have 10MB with Cyta and speed tests show we are getting roughly that, however speed test on tv system on our Magbox254 regularly showing less than half that speed and sometimes as low as 2mbs. It seems to be worse in the evening between 8-11pm. We’re...

My OH had micro surgery earlier this year to repair a meniscus tear at the Evangelismos Hospital in Paphos. Treatment was excellent and he has had no further problems

Re: Tracing Paper for making sewing patterns

Thanks for that info Kansas, I know where Debenhams is so should be able to find it. I order fabric online from Minerva Crafts in the UK https://www.minervacrafts.com It’s a really good company with loads of choice in fabric, patterns and wool, and the quality of fabric has been excellent. Orders ha...

Re: Tracing Paper for making sewing patterns

I was looking for large tracing paper and found some in Zako, within Next as HIC has described. however I used this very quickly so it was proving expensive. Then completely by chance I found rolls containing about 20 sheets of A1 size paper in the main Paps supermarket in Paphos, it was in the sect...

Re: Vacuume cleaner advise please.

We’ve had a cylinder Vax machine for about 3 years and can’t say I’m that impressed with it, suction is very poor and it keeps blocking when you use the different tools. We have just ordered a robot vacuum from Amazon for around about your price range, if you’re interested I’ll give you an update on...

Re: EasyJet announces new Cyprus flights from Bristol Airport

The only winter flights to Newcastle are with TUI, but the EJ flight Paphos to Bristol means you can connect a couple of hours later with the EJ flight to Newcastle. Have never done this route but gone to Manchester, stayed in a hotel overnight then train up to north east, long winded but much cheap...

Re: Swimming pools again

Anoula. I posted this a couple of months ago when this subject was initially raised: “I believe One of the hotels in Limassol part filled in their pool so the deepest part was no more than about 5ft and therefore legally allowed them to operate without a lifeguard.” This was told to me by a friend w...

Re: Traffic Matters

My OH got a speeding fine the other week in Paphos. On going to the bank to pay the fine we found that the penalty points had been put on my license due to the car being registered in both our names and the police recorded the first named owner rather than the details from OH’s driving license. This...

We used Top Quotes the brokers in Chloraka for both car and home contents (we rent our home). Having been one of the unlucky households to be burgled recently I must say our insurers were very good. Yes we had to answer loads of questions and had to provide internet links to similar goods we were cl...

Re: Swimming pool legislation

Just repeating what I was told Mike. I know the hotel in question and it used to have a deep end and a lifeguard, now has neither. Also all the complexes around us have no lifeguards. My point was maybe the rule depends on the depth of pool? However if HIC knows of several pools which have been clos...

Snake Alert

Any ideas what type of snake this is? It was about 2ft long and quite thin, last seen disappearing under the door to our pump house!
