Re: Update on Ruby....

Such a hard, heartbreaking decision to have to make, but you know you've done the right thing for your beloved pal. Ruby has had a long loving life with you and you will have many happy memories to smile over in times to come, although you will be needing boxes of Kleenex for a while yet.

Re: Euro to Sterling transfer

As far as I'm aware, there is no limit on CurrencyFair transactions - but if you put up, say, Euros 250,000 to change to Sterling at whatever rate you have chosen, it may take several peers to buy all your Euros, but as soon as it's in your CurrencyFair account, you can request them to ship it to yo...

Re: Euro to Sterling transfer

Sign up with CurrencyFair and you will get an exchange rate very close to interbank, and a transfer cost of 3 (pounds or euros).

As far as I am aware, if you use a Cyprus bank, you are unlikely to get a good exchange rate and you will be charged heavily for the privilege.

Re: Planning permission

If you don't have full title deeds, you may find you have to remove said pergola in order for the deeds to be issued at whatever future date. I've seen other people have to remove their various extensions/additions before full deeds could be issued. The area your property's plot is in will be design...

Re: Paphos in Winter

PolemIan - we found the police next to useless when we had problems with hunters and dog trainers in our (conservation area) valley. The Game Wardens from Flora & Fauna are much more helpful. I agree, Paphos in winter is lovely with bright green fields, stunning skies, amazing thunderstorms and ...

Following on from the Missing Swallows thread ...

It's not only swallows that are few and far between, this year. I've noticed that my sweet smelling purple buddleia, normally buzzing and well covered with bees and butterflies, to the extent that I risked being stung when dead heading the old flowers, has not been in such demand this year. Is this ...

Re: How the world has changed

I used to be sent off on my bike to hand deliver the Christmas cards to friends and relatives, some many miles away. Never had any problems, but wouldn't recommend it now. OH and I gave up cycling long before we moved out here - too many near misses with cars, one even passed OH so close his pedal g...

Re: EU Immigration Requirements

Hi Robert 1. Some nine years ago, we only needed the original of our British wedding certificate and a photocopy - I think the Apostille and stamps referred to in your list are for the translation if required. 2. The certificate of income - they want proof that you will not be a financial burden on ...

Re: Large green recycling/refuse bins

What do they suggest you do with your household refuse sacks then. ?? Could you perhaps ask them if it is OK to just leave them in the location of the old bin.. Trev.. But wouldn't all the roaming (and hungry) stray dogs, feral cats, rats etc simply rip the bags apart during the night, in order to ...

I second Louise's recommendation of Costas at Zonari. He's a very affable amenable guy. At the traffic lights below the old Or...
