No mention either way on the latest charges and commissions lists of the major banks and no response to email request for further information

A few more reasons:
some think living here is the same as being on holiday
many do not do enough research
others find the working conditions are not the same as the UK
the change in lifestyle wears off after a while

When my husband reached UK state pension age the tax office told him that as it was a source of income from another country it was necessary to complete an annual Cyprus Tax Return regardless of the amount. As part of the Dual Registration Treaty he now has a NT code in the UK plus he was delighted ...

As soon as you make the appointment for interview at the Immigration Office you are 'in the system' regardless of when the interview takes place. So, in theory if you make an appointment on 31 December you are OK even though the interview may not be until next February / March. Best to check with an...

We are S1 form holders and also MEU3 Permanent Residents and we do not pay GESY contributions. We sent the usual paperwork + the exemption letter to our accountant who has submitted the tax return. ''If you are a resident of the government controlled areas you are a GHS beneficiary if a) you are emp...

Re: Coronavirus: masks must be worn if more than two people in a closed space
In a restaurant/bar/coffee shop we follow our own rules so we wear a mask at all times apart from when we are seated at the table and always choose a table away from groups of more than 4 people at a table. In some places we physically move the table and chairs! I also disinfect areas where I may re...

Re: Joining Gesy below retirement age
As a person below retirement age: If you have the MEU1 - only if you are working and paying Social Insurance. Otherwise you have to wait 5 years to get permanent residency to benefit - then you pay a percentage of your income via the tax system to contribute to GESY. Ironically, as a MEU1 holder, I ...

Re: UK Still in Category B! (Oct 6th)
I would be much happier if every single person flying from the UK had to produce the required negative covid test rather than the current system whereby Cypriots and residents can opt to have the test done on arrival at Larnaca or Paphos airport.
