Dormant season over... pics

It looks like that also animals realize that the winter is over and spring had arrived. Yesterday lunchtime I watched this Praying Mantis hanging far away from garden plants on the house wall near the toilet window. I decided to move her with the help of an brush to shrubs in the garden. However bef...

Re: Again, just for a few seconds.... pics

I forgot to mention that I was using digital zoom between 600-12oo mm, the area where the rainbow ended was 10 km away near Choletria.

Excitement at Troodos peak?

I really wonder what the excitement for so many people is on a Sunday afternoon to walk in that snow slush...  There are more people then in the past week, when it was fresh snow and sunny. On the other hand it is perhaps only me as I don't like snow and cold foggy conditions :) https:/...

Again, just for a few seconds.... pics

Recently I posted a sunrise which lasted only a very short time. Today the weather was quite sunny with black clouds towards the mountains and in the late afternoon it was suspicious-looking for a rainbow appearing... and it did. However really only for 30 seconds, before a huge cloud covered it up ...

Re: Last night's Tornado Yermasoyia area, impressive pic...

It looks like it was pretty bad there - If we had a bad storm in Paphos I slept through it... Well, I woke up from rumbling thunder very close and noisy at my place above Paphos just 1/2 hour before the Tornado happened in Limassol and unplugged electricity to computer and PV- inverter in my office...

Last night's Tornado Yermasoyia area, impressive pic...

This photo published in the press shows last nights Tornado, which struck very close to the skyscraper in Yermasoyia/Limassol area, leading to a lot of damage to EAC's electricity network there. I wonder how much the people living at higher apartments felt the storm in that building..... http...

Re: Tipping point for waiting staff

If I am happy with the food served and the staff friendly enough I always leave a small tip for the waiter. I can see, I am not alone when out at Timi Fish Tavern and the tip box, which is of glass, got plenty of tips from their customers, which are mainly locals beside Russians and Chinese. What a ...

Just a few seconds this morning

It was before sunrise this morning when I jumped out of bed to find my camera for this shot which I believe it was worth it as after seconds later it was all dull and windy and is still now.....

Re: "Tris di pesce" at home

with just one more potato, this would have been enough for me for three days! It depends what else you are eating the rest of the day. For me it was the main dish after a breakfast of 1 slice of rye bread with butter, 75 gr Tilsit cheese, some cherry tomatoes, 1 banana cypriaka. No snacking between...

"Tris di pesce" at home

As I prefer fish to meat and my last fish lunch at Timi Beach was already 3 days ago, I prepared some quick and easy food today. I had fresh salmon filet in the fridge and frozen shrimps plus sole filets in the freezer, plenty enough for me as a fish meal. Had only to peel cooked potatoes and put th...

As the topic changed to mobile phoning now: I remember 1987 buying a very expensive unit to have a phone in my house which was then built in the nowhere, near Neo Chorion in case of an emergency like fire or illness... It looked mobile, however if I moved its position too much in the house I lost si...

Re: Light steady rain

Over in the east we have had just over 48mm of measured rain since yesterday midday, and still more to come. Lovely stuff. On our end at Paphos I measured this early morning 4mm from last nights light rainfall. It just shows how much it varies in Cyprus. Like yesterday, the morning image from the T...

Rain and Rain plus Rain we need desperately to fill up the dams, not a little morning shower. Our largest dam in Cyprus near Limassol is still only at 39% full and it is February in a couple of days....

Bravo EAC

Many people complain how EAC works. I however was very impressed yesterday night when I had a power cut for a sudden due to rats preferring to eat the cables at my electricity box outside the house. A electrician came along after an hour I called, together with the landlord, saying he would not touc...
