Re: Crown Resorts Horizon Hotel Update 2

Not for the owners of the hotel it wouldn't. Very lucrative. My neighbours are asylum seekers from Syria. They seem decent folks. The Africans that have moved into our village seem polite and don't cause any trouble. Quite a few of them have jobs now in Paps, Garden of Eden etc. I look at it that ma...

Re: Latsi Craft Market

The CH sound is a major difference between Greek and Cypriot Greek. For example, a Greek would say Tsada , how it is spelt. Cypriots say Chada. Many place names on road signs that are in English are spelt all manner of ways (e.g. EMBA being EMPA), mainly due to a lack of skill in the relevant govern...

A fluffy steering wheel cover never gets hot in summer, even in direct sunlight. Neither does it get cold in the winter.

Re: Why you should consider moving to Cyprus

Do you have any figures? I ask because I have very accurate figures for the readership of Paphos Life, and the vast majority of non-Cypriot hits come from the UK. So comments here will naturally have a British tilt. The short answer is no, I have no figures. However, I accept what you say about Pap...

Re: Why you should consider moving to Cyprus - The Brexit Connection

We can't vote to be Third Country Nationals, and then complain when we are treated as Third Country nationals. As to being penalised, we are obviously not. We are being treated the same as Americans, Australians, New Zealanders, South Africans, Canadians etc etc. I don't hear any of them complaining...

Re: Why you should consider moving to Cyprus

There is a tendency to think of the article as being for the British, and therefore the pointing out of "inaccuracies". However, the British are not mentioned and there are many other nationalities to whom the article applies, can read English, and take the Cyprus Mail.

Agreed. It's not pollution, it's sediment. It always happens after work has been done on the main pipes. It will flush through and then you will be back to normal clear water.

Re: Old Town 2022 Update - Part 3

The Titania Shopping Centre you passed by used, I believe, to be a cinema. There is an old cinema projector inside which supports that view. Some of it is occupied by part of the Boulevard Coffeeshop. There is only one shop inside which is called MP, and sells foodstuffs and other items for the Phil...

He had done it all. Jackanory, The Wombles, Hitchcock's Frenzy, Fawlty Towers, Dr Who, Railway Children, Corrie, singles in the charts, too many plays to mention, etc etc. One of my favourite actors. So sad.

Good blog Dominic. Nice to see Kinky bar in one of your photos. Lovely little bar. I have to say, that when I want a meal out in Paphos, I stay away from the harbour and TOTK Rd (3 little pigs being an exception). It's much better in the old town. As you say, lots of eateries and places to have a dr...

Re: Domicile in Cyprus

Domicile and citizenship are two completely different things. Domicile and residence are also completely different thigs. As I understand it, domicile is a status that determines where you pay SOME taxes, and is determined by things such as length of time in a country and the physical distribution o...

Re: The British Monarchy

I think most British people strongly associate monarchy with Queen Elizabeth II. Because they like her, and she rarely puts a foot wrong, the majority still support the monarchy. Once she passes, and that time isn't far away, Charles will take over and is likely to be King for 20 to 30 years. I thin...

Re: Good News re Fuel Prices.. VAT cut to ZERO !!!

Sorry chaps, but I read it differently. The actual news articles in the papers say the VAT will be reduced to zero on the fuel adjustment and consumer tax elements of the bill, not the whole bill. So those two elements will be added to the bill after the vat calculation, rather then before as at pre...

About time. Its a fabulous location and above the clouds on some days. I remember visiting a house in the village some years ago and looking down on the hotel thinking "if only I had the money". Ah well.
