Re: Selling House for sterling.

Usually for Contract of Sale purposes, a Euro figure is quoted, even if payment is actually made in Sterling. This makes it easy for the government to calculate how much in transfer fees, stamp duty etc etc you owe. If you know approximately when these funds will arrive in your bank account, you can...

Try asking Nikki in the village office.
Sorry not to be more helpful, but we just accumulate our cuttings in a heap, let them dry and burn them in the winter at the end of the afternoon as the dew is falling.

Re: Animals

I saw a rabbit first as I scrolled down the picture. But it's not on your list - so am I seeing things (again!) that aren't there?
There also appears to be a leopard at the top, and some sort of striped insect at the bottom....

Re: Cypriot drivers "addicted to their mobile phones"

We know a young well educated professional Cypriot whose BMW was his pride and joy. One day we saw him driving a small run-around instead. "What's happened to your car?" we enquired. "Ah, I had an accident so I'm using my mother's car while my BMW is being repaired." came the res...

Try the Ajax Hotel in Limassol. We stayed there overnight for the Wine Festival this year. There's parking on site, indoor pool, gym, etc and the breakfast buffet is fantastic.

Re: title deeds transfer to daughter

Your lawyer really should be more clued up on property law  - are you sure you don't want to change? The Cyprus government at the moment are not charging transfer fees for property transfers to immediate family, i.e. spouse to spouse, sibling to sibling, parent to child. I think it is only for...

Re: Transfer Property to Children

The problem with having Cyprus property and a Cyprus will is that Cypriot inheritance laws are somewhat different to those of the UK. For example, if the property is owned in joint names by husband and wife, in the UK, the half ownership can be willed to the spouse, ignoring the children (if any) an...

Re: Sorry it took so long.

As you have a Cyprus medical card, has your Dr considered the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre at Strovolos in Nicosia? Otherwise, for support and advice, go and see those very helpful folk at Pasykaf (Cancer Patients Support Group), just below the former Carrefour supermarket on Ellados, weekday morn...

Re: Turtles hatching at Lara beach outside Paphos (PICTURES)

We have fond memories of being on Lara Beach one day when the turtle team were excavating the hatchlings, putting them in a cool box or bucket and then taking them nearer the sea. They wanted loads of beachgoers to stand around in a funnel-shape to encourage the hatchlings towards the sea. By doing ...

Re: Water saving measures (Communal council)

Generally daily in the rainy season but much less frequently from March/April.

Evretou Reservoir is significantly down, lower than we have seen it since 2008. We can now drive across the reservoir bed on the old road and cross with dry tyres, no mud, no little trickle of water, very worrying.
