Re: Going rate for domestic cleaner
I know a large number of philippina women who work as cleaners. They insist on a minumum of 10 euros and refuse to work for less. Depending on distance their travel may be paid in addition. It's the same rate for babysitting etc.

Re: Modern-day slavery
Your relationship with your worker is that of employer and employee. She has a contract of employment, you pay her, and she can leave if she wants to. A slave has no choices, would be owned by you as a possession, and definately would not be paid. The only way they could leave is if you sell them to...

Re: Polemi Tulip Festival
We were rather disapointed that there were not many tulips. Obviously the weather dictates when they appear, so we may go back again in a week or so.

Re: David Hunter Court verdict
There is no evidence that courts deal with Cypriots differently to non-Cypriots. People who maintain that there is have probably never been to a court here or had any dealings with the police other than traffic offences. They rely on drunken speculation in some British bar, and probably don't read t...

Re: Restaurant Review: La Sardegna Da Gino
Excellent pizzas and good service. Be warned, it gets busy as it is popular with the locals. It's not unusual to see a queue of people waiting for a table to become spare.

Re: New Mall to Open on the 26th. Will your favourite shop be there?
I visited and was impressed. As others have said, Superhome is brighter and seems more spacious. Chatting to the staff, they all are very happy with it. Kiabi is a bright clothing shop that is in the M&S style of decor. Good prices (men's tee shirts from 7 euros and jumpers from 12 euros). There...

Re: Cyprus Tax
Hello, When is the tax year for Cyprus please? Do you have to complete a tax form even if your income is below 19,500 per person? Have heard that some people are being charged for Gesy via tax even if they have an S1. Has anyone any up to date experience of this? Many thanks in advance of replies. ...

Re: Delving into the Paphos region’s past
Josef k, please could you post directions to this museum in Geroskipou? I would like to visit it. I read something about it in a local advertisement mag. But there were no details about visiting or hours it is open. Thanks for more info. Dee Drive into Geroskipou centre from Paphos. Pass the square...

Hi, How can you state that a certain dentist is"the best by far in Paphos?Have you used all the other dentists? No, I haven't tried all the dentists in Paphos. I doubt anyone has. I based my comment on my own experience and comparing her to some UK dentists I tried, together with recommendatio...

Re: Paphos Mall, Old Town and Moutallos
Wrong! It’s in the old town, Ktima Paphos. The old buildings are former British Coionial buildings which were renovated and repainted and now serve Paphos Council and the Old Post Office. On the opposite side of the road the futuristic building is Nero’s Coffee Bar, the large open space is a sort o...
